Can you please can the order of things so the staff do all the forum activities and normal users can make whatever other threads they please? Having the staff make all the discussions leaves loads of empty threads laying around.
Well frankly normal users can make whatever threads they want atm and I think it is a little niaeve to assume the threads the users make will also not be empty. The staff do forum activities but it is also part of their job to keep threads and the forums active, there are many discussions out there and threads that can be made so please feel free to do so, staff are not the only people who can make threads, it has never been this way.
But imagine if we just told staff not to make any threads then suddenly there were barely any new threads being made. The forum wouldn’t appear active like that either.
So if you wanna help
Contribute to the threads that are made
We’re not gonna stop making threads just because some may flop.
You absolutely can and if you PM me I can give you the DJ role for it if you wanna VC can I ask that you make a thread about it on the forum and drum up the hype here? that kind of thing helps with activity hehe.
You aren’t overstepping I think it’s rad that users wanna celebrate that milestone and staff will help you in any way we can.
Hey, to the recent one about the art competition, you know which one, I just wanna say that the whole thing was a while ago now and statements have been made and things have been put in place. We haven’t yet had another situation like that to prove the fact we now have a better system in place but to be frank with you I’m not entirely sure why you are stoking up the flames from something that died out a while ago. What you sent me isn’t an improvement.
Statements have been made about the incident, mistakes were made on both sides but I think we should move foreward.
We haven’t swept it under the rug, I can assure you we think about it alot so we can grow and learn.
Things like what you sent don’t help anyone and if you have a problem with the behaviours of anyone on the staff even heads I suggest you reach out to us.
I just don’t get why you are bringing something up from a while ago when so much has happened since.
Give warnings before flagging. I’ve gotten flagged multiple times before for some stuff I didn’t even know was against the rules, and now that flags can prevent me from becoming a regular or even get me banned, I really don’t want to get flags without warning.
…
Okay, your warning is the rules. Read the rules then you will know if you are breaking them. In all fairness we are very transparent of the rules and when we constantly have to say stuff like
“Keep it PG13”
“Remember our 5 off topic post rule”
And all that stuff, it gets tiresome. The rules are there to be read not ignored.
Yes, like Passie said, it’s 5 accepted flags within 100 days, and if you are that high then it likely that have received an official warning from Deluge. From my knowledge, we have very very few who have received this.
Also, yes. MODS don’t flag things. That’s an unwritten rule we sort of have and stick to. We only read the flags and decided on accepting or rejecting them.
So I wanted to tackle this one even though something so obviously trolling and useless would usually never be posted. But I can’t not take this one and give a little opportunity to give our moderation team a bit of an up here.
So, first of all - it isn’t a job. It’s volunteering. This is something someone as inherently selfish and smooth-brained as you wouldn’t understand or value. They give up their time willingly because they genuinely love this community. That applies to all the @ForumStaff, not just the @moderators but it does apply there too.
If I have to guess I’d say you’re frustrated because you’ve received flags, or maybe even… A warning? I think I know who you may be, as a matter of fact. I have a few good ideas. Though you could be any of a number of Episode Forum clowns as well. It’s rather irrelevant. If there’s anyone who needs to grow up, it’s the person who had accepted flags and got salty about it on an anonymous form. Quite simply put, really.
The reason you feel policed like a child is because you act out like a child. You are immature, your brain isn’t properly developed. Unlike the vast majority of users here on the forums, you were flagged and those flags were probably accepted. The mods don’t actually accept every flag. Did you know there was a process behind that? I doubt it, you didn’t do any research. Mods don’t flag posts, leaders and users do. Mods take the necessary action when reviewing flags. This can be accepting it and removing the thread or post, deleting the post if need be, disagreeing with the flag if it’s abuse of the system, or just ignoring it.
Here are a couple of examples of the resources mods are required to stick to rigorously in order to effectively do their duties. May I remind you their work is voluntary as well. If you see any issues here, you may dispute them, but keep in mind that because you disagree with a rule, that does not make your view automatically valid. People have raised genuine concerns and caused us to make ammendments and additions to rules, and even roll back punishments at times. This is how we respond to fair criticism.
I think there is only the option to add a staff colour. I’d advise you to add a link to the announcement into the first post of the thread, so people can find it more quickly
