So, as I’ve said before, I’m in band. I’m in concert band playing mallet percussion, jazz band playing piano, and last season of marching band I was in color guard. I have MPA tomorrow and I’m nervous ;-;
Are any of you guys band kids? What instruments do you play? What songs are you playing? Does your band suck like mine?
Yes! I’m in Beginning Band currently and I play the flute, along with three other girls. I’ve wanted to join Band since I was in sixth grade, but I managed to work up the courage and find the time to start this year. In our winter concert two months ago, we played Furioso, Power Rock, G-Force Five, Strike Force, and Simple Gifts.
The worst part about Band is that the woodwinds and percussions practice after the brass, so there’s always spit on the floor when we walk in. :")
Except when everyone’s practicing together in a cramped room and your ears get blown out by the 300 drums playing at the same time x)
I like Dreidle Adventure, because I’m Jewish, and it’s one of my favorite Hannukka songs (even though I was just playing cymbals lmao). I also like Peregrine: A Traveler’s Tale, which we’re playing at MPA today :)) What about you?
My band teacher used to allow all the flutes practice in the practice rooms in our school, but he caught half of us slacking off one time and now we’re back in the band room. No one can hear the flutes anyways, we can barely hear ourselves. :"D
I liked Furioso and Simple Gifts! In the concert, the percussionists sped up too fast (they’re the loudest and some of the worst at keeping a steady beat, ahahaha) and Furioso was thiiis close to falling apart, oh my days. I’ve played Simple Gifts on the piano before, so it was easy for me to learn and the song is so sweet too. :3
oooooh how have I just seen this, yeah, I’m a total band nerd lmao
I’m a fluteist and honestly, band works like this:
the flute players are try hards
the trumpets are idiots
the saxophones talk too much
the clarinets are just kind of there
the oboes are always just girls
and percussion is the loudest
