Do you consider mobile games video games, or do you only consider video games the kind that you can play with a console (regardless if they can also be played on a PC)?
I mean, the first thing I think about when I hear the term ‘video games’ are the multiplayer ones that are normally played on a console, but I still consider mobile games video games.
It’s a video version of a game, just on a mobile device. So, yes!
Mobile games are real video games regardless of their format, but the people who actively play mobile games are often different from those who would actively play on the console/PC.
Mobile gamers tend to be more casual when it comes to gaming whilst Console/PC gamers tend to be more “commited” for a lack of better words. Mobile games are usually meant for quick consumption while Console/PC games require the player to invest more time into a game.
Candy Crush for example isn’t the same thing as a Witcher game

Mobile games, ha they were still a fresh and new concept back when we looked into them back in University. However yes they would still be counted as Video Games, though most in the industry would class them under what is known as the “Casual Games” Bracket.
These tend to be video games that are aimed not at people who would normally be found playing Video Games. In fact some of your earliest Casual games can trace there origins back to Flash and even BASIC. But these are games that are aimed at the mass market. Children, Commuters and Middle-Aged Women are often sited as the target demographic.
Due to this the games are kept simple and free, so that they can be picked up and played for five or ten minutes, thus allowing for the shorter attention spans of kids, or the city commutes of the modern worker.
I’m just imagining someone driving a car playing a game… that would not be good
They are video games just less rad
I count mobile games as real games. They might not be as elaborate as console games and MMORPGs, but they do have their perks. I’ve found some well-hidden object games in the app, cute zoo games, and Star Wars games that I like. Each game is technically made for a certain platform, so it’s easy to say that a game on the console is more detailed than that of a mobile game due to graphics limitations on cell phones. We just now got to the point where mobile action MMORPG games are taking the forefront of mobile games.
