Avatar: The Last Airbender is definitely one of the best (if not the best) western animated TV shows out there. From the world-building, the plot, the characters, and the animation, Avatar: The Last Airbender has proven itself to be a masterpiece that is loved by a lot of age groups. The show is still widely talked about up until now despite the show ending over a decade ago. For those who haven’t watched it yet, then I highly recommend you to watch it. The first season may be a bit childish for the taste of some viewers, but I guarantee you that this show gets better in the season finale and in the next seasons. I love this show so much and I can’t get enough of it.
As said in the title, this is a discussion thread about Avatar: The Last Airbender. But before that, here are some questions that might help stir up the discussion.
• Who’s your favorite character?
• What’s your favorite episode?
• If you were to choose an element to bend, which one would it be and why?
• What are your thoughts about the upcoming Netflix live-action adaptation of this series? Are you excited about it or are you doubtful that it might also fail like the one that happened with the live-action film adaptation?
Aside from the questions I’ve given above, please feel free to use this thread to discuss anything about Avatar: The Last Airbender.
I don’t even know which episodes, I just watch it randomly
Water because I’m a cancer and that is my element!
Oh I wasn’t aware of that
I like that an avatar named Aang (Noah Ringer) discovers that he has the power to control the four elements. He joins forces with Katara (Nicola Peltz), a Waterbender, and her brother, Sokka, to restore balance and harmony to their world.
Melon Lord! I love how they made her unique, fun, and beautiful. Definitely a character worth rooting for.
I don’t really have a favorite episode don’t trust me. I forget but I have a favorite scene. It was when Toph discovered metal-bending, and the scene (gosh I have such a bad memory) where they were fighting against earthbenders (not in the arena one). It was so smooth; they managed to move forward without going backwards. If you don’t know what I’m talking about (because me too), it was the scene where Toph turned the stairs into a sliding one and elevated themselves with an earthen platform.
Maybe fire, because I feel like I connect to it lel. But if not, air. Air is overpowered if nurtured with great knowledge, and I weirdly love the air sometimes
… THERE IS?! Netflix be adapting famous animations though I don’t know. I feel weird about One Piece already. Honestly, I can’t imagine, but why not give it a try? If they manage to disappoint like how the other one did… I don’t know what will happen to their honor.
Ooh probably Toph, I love her so much or Azula because I find her so funny
My memory do be really bad
I liked the scene when Toph was kidnapped and then she learned how to metalbend, I also liked the scene when Princess Yue sacrificed herself for the moon spirit
Fire would be really cool, I’ve always loved playing with fire.
Well, seeing as the original creators of Avatar really left and said that whatever it ends up as wasn’t what they’d originally intended, I don’t think it’s going to be very good
I heard that Netflix wanted to make some plot changes that are way different from the source material. From what I know, Netflix wanted the Live Action version of ATLA to be a show for older audiences, meaning that they wanted to add more mature themes such as violence, and probably nudity (hopefully not because that will ruin everything I loved a about the show). Since they’re planning to target the show for older audiences, I won’t even be surprised if they aged up the main characters. Now that the creators are out of it, I’m not even sure if this Live Action adaptation will ever be good.
I feel like people say that some elements are better than others, but I actually believe it depends on the creativity of the user that makes each element potentially have unlimited heights. Also I would like to point out that it is technically canon to be taught all four elements by the masters (bison, badgermoles, dragons, water is tricky but I believe the ocean and moon spirits) IF you were worthy, so I’d probably try to do that and by definition technically become “the Avatar” I just wouldn’t have the “Phoenix Force” of Avatar (Avatar state) to back me up.
I was excited for live adaptation then the creators left so now there’s (not) A New Hope.
