Steven adjusted the lapels of his burgundy polyester velvet blazer and brushed down his pants after he had got out of his Bentley Continental GT. Under that blazer jacket was a black silk shirt. He hadn’t planned on attending, having agreed with Lucy that he’d stay home with the kids. But something had changed his mind, and now here he was, watching the press snap their photos like the hungry scavengers they were.
Now walking straight past the vultures, not pausing to answer their tedious questions, Steven was soon on the yacht. Immediately taking in his surroundings, his eyes scanning the crowd, he spotted Lucy at the bar. She was with that actor, what’s-his-name, and they were awfully close. Her hand was resting on his, their faces close, and there was even a kiss on the cheek, which all seemed far too intimate for mere acquaintances.

Keeping up his composure, Steven approached the bar, watching his wife in his peripheral vision who was standing a little further along the bar. He signalled the bartender and ordered, “A Classic Martini, with a Dry Gin, of course.” Then as the bartender prepared his drink, Steven glanced back at the pair while contemplating his options carefully. One’s image was everything, and causing a scene or attract unwanted attention was not something he particularly wanted. Instead, he decided to observe them discreetly.
The bartender put his martini on the counter and Steven slid it closer. Lucy’s hand move to the man’s leg and Steven took a sip from his drink.
