“Don’t let it weigh down on you, darling.” She advised Eva as the evening’s host gathered everyone together for the games. If the story continued to gain traction or spawned any new, exaggerated versions, she would intervene but she hoped that just leaving it be would be enough for now.
She listened as the host explained the rules of the game, which differed from previous years. When it was her turn to choose a name, she felt a tinge of nervous anticipation shoot through her body. She knew that there were a few names that she would rather not pull. When she finally got her slip of paper, she felt conflicted. Her relationship with Olivia Huang hadn’t been the most positive over the years so there were a few ways this could go.

“Thank you, Olivia. I appreciate it.” She responded with a smile. “I’m going to thank you as well. I might not have been able to see it back then but you did show that you can own up to your mistakes, which is admirable.” She said, finishing off her turn with a subtle raise of her glass. “Even though it takes a lawsuit to achieve it.” She added under her breath before taking a sip of her wine, smiling as she set the glass down.
