After the yacht party, Beck sat up in bed frowning, scrolling through social media comments. Her mouth opened slightly in shock and remained that way as she continued reading.

“Beck the bitter has been taking shots at actual talent.”

“You wish you had even half of Miles fame girl! This is what clout chasing looks like.“

scroll

“Beck needs a reality check! Who does she think she is criticizing him?”

scroll

“Just because she’s got some fame doesn’t mean she gets to belittle real talent. #TeamMiles.”

Her finger continued to scroll through the comments all night. On one hand, she was annoyed that so many people were criticizing her. On another hand, this was the most activity she had gotten on her social media in a long time. Either way, her mind was a jumbled mess from the long day so she turned off the light and went to sleep.

In the morning, Beck woke up and made her favorite cereal. Then, she sat down in front of the kitchen island in front of the computer, tying her hair up in a ponytail and letting out a deep breath. Even though she felt like she didn’t do anything wrong, there was a part of her that felt a little bad, that maybe she should have just remained professional and not added fuel to the fire and none of this would have happened. Maybe she could put everything to rest finally and move on from this situation. She opened up the computer and typed up an email.

Subject: Apologies and Lunch Invitation

Dear Miles,
I hope this email finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to sincerely apologize for my comments during the yacht party’s diss or thank game. In the heat of the moment, I was unkind and I regret my words. That was not the person I strive to be, especially among my peers.

I believe we could benefit from a conversation moving forward. If you’re open to it, I’d like to invite you to lunch one day soon. It would be great to reset our rapport and see if we can find some common ground.

Looking forward to your response.

Best,
Beck Dawson

Then she sat back in her seat, letting out a deep breath. Was she just trying to save her a$$? Yes.

Days later

Beck slipped on her red tights and pulled a black coat over her shoulders. She was supposed to meet Faust Champion at the studio to work on a song, but felt slightly confused. She wasn’t sure if she was going to a movie studio or a music studio but supposed she would know when she got there. She didn’t know much about Faust but he seemed like a sweet guy and artist. This was also an opportunity to produce more music in different genres, to expand her horizons, especially because of what just went down with Miles. She needed all of the good publicity she could get. While sitting at a stop light she pulled out her phone and texted Josie Montana asking if she were okay. She still didn’t answer. Beck knew that the stuff Josie was going through was really bad and she had been supportive as much as possible. She wished that she knew who she had gotten pregnant by so bad.

When she got into the building she walked up to Faust with a smile on her face. “Hey, Faust.” She took off her sunglasses and put them in her coat pocket.
