“Maybe you should stop then.” His younger sister had quipped and Emiliano let out a laugh. The laugh might have sounded confident, relaxed and uncaring but it was more nervous than anything, more hoarse. His fingers had trembled, and to hide the trembling fingers he placed his hand behind his back, as he chuckled. “I’ll take your advice on that,” When Sunny had apologized, he shook his head, gently as he said: “No, it’s okay, you don’t have to apologize,” He pursed his lips, then: “Lead the way.” And she diid-lead the way that is, she took him to her bedroom, and he followed, his head raised high in confidence, but his shoulder’s were slumped and his lips were pressed into a tight line. He was a walking paradox that could not decide whether he wanted to be confident or nervous.

In truth, it still was quite perplexing, quite unbelievable to be back, especially after the events of Thanksgiving. A part of him, out of sheer coward-ness had wanted to remain in the place he resided in, so his days would be peaceful, but he could not waste his days in solitude, he had to spent them with the people he cared about the most, with his family, with Beverly Shores– the place that raised him. If he was to fly to the sun, he wishes to do so in Beverly.

When they entered Sunny’s bedroom, Emilio was immediately drawn to the look of it. it was empty- a moody background, with no posters or decorative items. The walls were a plain grey and black, and nothing like how Emilio remembered Sunny’s room in their childhood looking like. Back then, Sunny was full of color, not too bright but still there was some color in there and at the lack of it, in this room, Emilio could not help but to grimace, but still he had said: “Nice room” Then while still standing, hands in his pocket, he added, “Looks unique.” He had wanted to ask if she lived in here with anyone else, but chose not to, instead, he remained awkwardly standing, as he waited for her to talk. Then, a lump grew in his throat and he couldn’t help but to cough it out- a screeching unusual cough. He covered his mouth with his arm, and asked, “So…” He coughed, “What was it that you wanted to show me?” He adjusted his collar, as the coughing began to dwell, leaving a bitter taste in his throat. He had forgotten to take his medication, it seems.
