That smile. Helen’s heart stumbled, and she relaxed in place. “It is a nice place. I’m sure yours is lovely too.” Tommy said. His voice was… intimate. Yes, nothing had changed but it felt so sincere. So lovely. What was she thinking? “I’m glad you are here with me though, Helen. I really do enjoy time with you.” He said, closer to her. She should have been uncomfortable. She should have backed up as he nearly pinned her to door. But this, this was electric. This was a magnetic pull she found herself stepping towards. Her hands, gently, oh so gentle, relaxing in his chest. She watched him.

Normally, she would have brushed aside any notion of flirting or attraction, insisting on keeping things professional. But right now? Right now it seemed impossibly far away, a distant reality overshadowed by the current tidal wave of emotion surging through the room. “Tommy…” she began, her voice barely above a whisper.

It felt like stepping off a cliff, free-falling toward something exhilarating and unknown. “I’ve been trying to push these feelings away,” she admitted, her voice quiet but strong, “because I didn’t want to complicate things. But pretending doesn’t work anymore, does it?” Helen felt the uncertainty morph into excitement. There was a spark of danger in their situation, yes, but it paled in comparison to the thrill of discovery.

Oh, is that so? You really think you will destroy me? I’m the UNO master.” Helen humorously raised her eyebrows at him. “No, I don’t think you understand how my sheer willpower makes the best at, oh, everything?” she joked, genuinely enjoying their banter. This is what fun genuine friendship felt like, and she was loving every moment. It had been a hot minute since she’d had this feeling—if you ignored not too long ago in Tommy’s room.[/center]

The treehouse was amazing, and Helen couldn’t help but look around. She peaked over the balcony and—wait a second. She had to take a second glance. And… no. That couldn’t be…

She watched in confused anger at the whole interaction. She hadn’t even realized Tommy had come to stand beside her until he put his hands on her shoulders. “I know this can’t be easy to see Helen, but at least the relationship isn’t real with y’all.” she couldn’t help but scoff. “Real or not, that’s very very public. Is he actually stupid?” She fumed.

This wasn’t the first time this had happened. But it definitely was much more—big, than before. They were, quite literally, making out in a pool. She couldn’t stop the heat in her cheeks as she couldn’t tear her eyes away. Shaking her head, as Tommy spoke she turned away from the scene.

…or we could stay up here and have a few drinks of the alcohol I brought with me.” She huffed a breath. She had the strong urge to go down there, grab Dave by the ear, and pull him into her room (give him some pointers that, a) in her room was private and b) what the actual fck!?). She shook her head, turning to watch again. Some other random guy was there, and Dave seemed to be backing away.

Helen rubbed her temple, “I—I don’t know, Tommy.” She wanted to ignore this, but it felt to big now. She straightened her skirt, cleared her throat. “I think the best thing to do is have a meeting about this. You, Dave, and I. Honestly, probably best to do tonight. I…” She cleared her throat, looked right into Tommy’s eyes, “I think we have to call off this ‘dating’ thing. I’m willing to wait until the movie is in theaters, but I can’t handle this. Looking out for my career and Dave’s? No, he shouldn’t have the ability to humiliate me and hurt my career for… whatever he’s doing.” She gestured towards his general direction. “Let’s go,” She said, walking and dialing Dave’s number at once.
