Tommy held his breath for what felt like forever. Then Helen started to speak. The words she said he didn’t expect for sure, but he couldn’t have been happier to hear them. “I’ve been trying to push these feelings away, because I didn’t want to complicate things. But pretending doesn’t work anymore, does it?” Tommy couldn’t help but smile at these words. “She has feelings for me. It wasn’t just one sided.” He thought as he stood in front of her mere inches form her face.
“Well, if I’m being honest. You are 100% right Helen. It is getting harder and harder to pretend I don’t have feelings for you. Just like it’s getting harder to see you and Dave together even though I know it isn’t real.” He finally let out the breath he didn’t even know he was holding in. “I’ve been trying to push the feelings away too. That’s probably why I’ve been hot and cold with you. These feelings… well honestly, I’ve had them for some time now.” He said being honest with her.
He decided to lean in a little closer to her. Their noses almost touching now. He looked her dead in the eyes. “However, it wasn’t till “the relationship” with you and Dave that I realized they were stronger than I thought.” At this moment he couldn’t hold back anymore. He slowly leaned in and kissed her cheek. He was nervous about kissing her on the lips. Even though they were in private not in public. He didn’t want to do anything to upset Helen. He smiled at her when he slowly backed away.
He looked at her lovingly and longingly as he stared deep into her eyes completely lost in the moment. He could feel his heart skipping beats. “Is this really happening. Did we both just confess we have feelings for each other. Is it really this undeniable?” He questioned himself as he stared into her eyes and smiled. He really wanted to kiss her on the lips, but he also wanted to be respectful. He could feel the sparks flying between them and he knew it was the perfect time for a kiss.
Tommy chuckled at Helen. “Well we will see about that” He said in response. Then she had gotten up and walked to the railing of the balcony and told him to stay put. He didn’t listen however.
Tommy kept rubbing small circles on her shoulder as he stood beside her. “You are right. It is very public.” He sighed in disappointment at Dave. “To answer your other question… sometimes I really do think so. I mean, why would he treat someone as amazing as you so $h!tty, I mean even if it’s not real. You are a human being with feelings who doesn’t deserve this kind of behavior.” Tommy was slowly getting more heated with Dave himself.
Tommy stood there just trying to comfort her. “A meeting sounds like a good idea. Yes, it will happen tonight, Helen.” He offered as they looked into each other’s eyes. “Yes, y’all should call the dating thing off. I think a public break up is best. If this goes public, it is bad for both you and him. However, it looks worse on him. Since he is the one doing something wrong to such a sweet and caring woman.” Tommy was trying really hard to not let his anger show. Not only was Dave a client but he was Tommy’s friend. So, wanting to hit him for hurting and upsetting Helen this way… well it sucked for Tommy.
“It’s not okay for him to be acting like this. I have tried so many times to keep him in line, but dammit I’m not his dad. I’m his manager and friend. Him making all these public things isn’t good at all. I’m sorry this is happening.” He was done and tired of making excuses and covering up stuff for Dave. Tommy had kept so much out the news. However, Dave just seemed to keep doing what he felt in the moment and that wasn’t okay. Tommy cracked his neck as they headed down to where Dave was at. “Yes ma’am” Tommy said as they walked that way, and he cracked his knuckles too. He was fuming at this point. He saw Helen calling Dave as they walked over. Tommy wasn’t sure what to expect. All he knew was that if Dave talked to Helen crocked, he would probably punch him.
