Lysander

The way she looked at the necklace he gave her seemed as if she thought he bought it for her as a grand gesture. “I … I didn’t buy it, I had it already. It belonged to somebody very special to me. I think it’s time it ends up on somebody’s neck sooner or later, it’s too elegant and too beautiful to just lay around in some guy’s basement, reminding him of old wounds … You can keep it.” When they reached the car she told him “You know, I would have liked for you to pu the necklace on me.” Which confused Lysander. “What for? We’re not really dating … Plus I haven’t had a girlfriend since junior high school so I’ll have to get used to doing some things I haven’t ever done before.” Lysander started fearing thsi arrangement wouldn’t hep her since he knew so little about dating. He was so worried he told her “Listen, if you change your mind, I’ll leave the country on my own accord, no need to involve deportation.” He was checking if she was still interested in him helping her now that she knows he’s got no experience.

During the car ride Beck briefly explained what most people do for their partners. He’s never felt that way about anybody, except for one woman, but althoug he loved her greatly before she died, he didn’t want any physical relationship with her. Partly because she had no desires towards his sex, and he had no desires towards anybody or anything at all.
Because of the small talk he had with Beck he was ready to play this role to perfection. Entering the theater while holding her close to him, his hand around her waist, he noticed immediately the man that struck her fancy. His demeanor and the way he talked to that old lady, even from a far, made Lysander know immediately he was a good choice. "Good choice."He whispered to her. The man finally seemed to notice them approaching and, obvious to them, he and the old lady started talking about them. Lysander figured he was bad-mouthing him for being with the woman he likes, but he couldn’t care less, because he’s only doing this to stay in the country and have been gossiped about is bearable for avoiding deportation. Beck pretended she didn’t know he was here so he had to tap her on the shoulder to get her attention. “Hey Beck.” He greeted her, and Lysander pretending this was the first time he noticed him, and he only turned around to face him as he said hello to Beck. “What a surprise. Glad to see you here! Would you and your friend like to joing is?” Lysander pretended to be offended by being called her friend, although in truth he is less than that. He scoffed and in a quizical but also joking tone repeated “Friend?” He looked at her and continued talking in a joking manner. “Is that how you introduce all your boyfriends, or am I just special?”
She then decided to answer on of Shaun’s questions. While scanning the room. “Oh, we’re actually going to sit … back there, right … Lysander?” Lysander hoped this was a big enough hint for this man, but he assumed that wasn’t the case, so he whistled. “What did I do in life to deserve a grilfriend that offers me what you just offered me? Hell, I’m not wasting the opportunity.” He turned to Shaun. “Dude, do you know where the seats in the back row with the LEAST amount of lighting?” He asked. Hopefully, he’ll realize what they both meant.
