“We were actually in the middle of a conversation my brother.” Helen chuckled, watching the testosterone take on a passive aggressive response. She was here to watch and enjoy some pettiness, quite enjoying it. She cradled a new drink her hand, not entirely sure when or how she attained it.
“Helen…” Josie put her hand on her arm, implying that she would be too much for her to handle. “You must be drunk… Here.” Josie stood up a bit to grab Helen’s shot glass to try and show her how all of her shot was empty.
“WHAT THE ACTUAL F^^K SAVANNAH?” Helen startled, turning, in horror to confirm if she in fact correctly guessed who was yelling. her eye were wide “Firstly, that message was very unprofessional being that I am your manager. Secondly, that picture was not wanted by me. Thirdly, I really like someone,” Tommy eyes met Helen’s for a quarter of a second.
“You don’t think I know the risks of being a celebrity? I know it can get in the wrong hands but I am careful and would never allow anyone to—” “AHHHH” The suddenness of it jolted Helen out of Tommy’s speech, her body instinctively reacting by wrapping an arm around Josie’s waist to steady her. Her hand brushed Josie’s as Josie attempted to smooth down her dress, where Helen herself was trying to cover her. Helen’s heart raced—not just from the surprise, but from the instinctual need to protect her friend. Helen felt her own cheeks grow warm, her drunken blush mixing with an undercurrent of embarrassment on behalf of her friend. “Just—hold on, let me help you,” she said quickly, shifting slightly to create more space for Josie, even as she tried to focus on the more pressing issue of making sure Zeke wouldn’t get too much of an eyeful.
“Hey Helen, can we maybe go somewhere private and talk for a moment? I promise to return you right back here when we are finished.” Helen’s heart twisted at Tommy’s plea, and for a moment, her resolve wavered. She could see the tension in his shoulders and the way his eyes flitted between panic and desperation. It tugged at something in her, but she couldn’t shake off Josie’s words and the fury of her protectiveness.
Helen bit her lip, she could see the vulnerability peeking through his bravado, yet her gut churned at the thought of leaving her friends behind, especially after Josie’s fierce defense.
As Helen stood up, she felt a mixture of nerves. “Please, excuse me,” she said, rising on wobbly legs, standing right beside Tommy. She was hesitant, her heart thumping louder than the pulsing music surrounding them. She was too embarrassed to even look in Savannahs general direction. Plus, things were too fuzzy for her to even imagine what the girls would think after Tommy made a big display like that then asked to speak to her privately. After all, publicly, all she was was another client. “Let’s just find that quieter spot, okay?” She whispered to him, height even with his in her heels. She glanced at Josie, “I’ll be right back,” she said tightly, before walking away from the group.
