“I mean, swinging from chandeliers? That’s pretty bold.” To which Dave shrugged and said “Well, I’ve swung from a few chandeliers in my time, but not anymore. It feels like after Corona nobody parties like they used to. Maybe it’s just me but going out now is so much more depressing and boring as opposed to going out in 2018 or the start of 2019.” He listened as she commented about the media caring only about being wild or dramatic. Dave didn’t say anything, because he didn’t know if that was true. He wasn’t wild per se, but when there was a party, he’d know how to get just about wild enough. When she said “But hey, if swinging from chandeliers is how you stay on top, you’ve gotta own it, right?” he didn’t know if he should confirm it. He just chuckled as if to mean yes, but letting her enterpert it the way she wants since he had no answer for her.
Thankfully, she accepted it and carried on with the conversation.
“Seriously? That actually happened?” To which he nodded, but gave her a disclaimer. “But it’s not the way you think. She was really subtle about it so it didn’t bother me that much. I mean she came to me to congratulate me on the scene I just did, although all the credit goes to Helen on that one. She’s the one who pushed me. Well, this woman congratulated me and introduced herself as the musical producer of the movie. Mid conversation she finds an excuse to put her hands on my biceps and tells me how big they are. I would’ve offered to take of my shirt, but she would’ve seen me shirtless in the next scene anyways and I had to grab lunch.” He kept explaining as if he was catching up his bestie. He subconciously started thinking about Tommy and how he’s the closest thing he has to a best friend. And then he started thinking how much better and smarter Tommy is to Dave. It was then that Ravi asked. “So, it actually is all about the abs, huh?” which made all the compliments she said about him seem less legitimate now. Now he knows that she understands he isn’t that good of an actor, and before she was just complimenting him because she didn’t know him yet. “That’s exactly what I’ve been trying to tell you.” He felt a bit lower, but then she spoke up again. And still she included a few compliments, as if she knows what would make him feel more confident in himself. “But don’t sell yourself short, Dave. You might have killer abs, but like I said, there’s more to you than that.” which made him blush a bit, which led him to hang his head dto hide it. "Maybe … I wish I knew what that was.
After Dave asks her to look for Helen and Ezra.
When he mentioned ‘her husband’ it was a coy way of his asking if she was attached. For some reason he hoped she was, probably because if she weren’t he be tempted to risk it all. If they were both attached he might be able to compose himself better with more obstacles between them … Although he would want to more if he had more obstacles. So he didn’t know which one was better. When she confirmed she had a husband, he didn’t know if that was good for him or not. As she accepted his offer and his hand, Dave could’ve sworn he felt electricity coarsing through his fingers as they touched, but the touch and the feeling was so brief, he couldn’t be certain of it.
They started walking around, looking for Helen, but they walked withouth much sense of urgency. They looked more like they were taking a stroll than looking for someboy. When they reached the pool, Dave stopped, seeing how mesmerized by the pool she was. The soft smell of chlorine hitting their nostrils reminded him of his childhood and trips to the local swimming pool for training and a bit of fun afterwards. He loved swimming and just being surrounded by water, floating weightlessly.
Her comment reflected perfectly what he was thinking. “You know, there’s something about being by a pool that always makes things feel a little more… cinematic.” Which made him smaile as he answered. “Do you mean how this reminds oyu of childhood and now it’s as if you’re outside looking in to your own childhood as if it was a cinematic experience? Because I totally get you.”
When she asked where he thinks his girlfriend is hiding he didn’t now what to answer. “What is this turning into a Dora the explorer episode? Where could Helen be hiding? Is it behind the bar? Is she on the dance floor? Is Tommy the swiper?” He joked. He was about to suggest they go to the bar, but he turned around to look at the bar and noticed Helen wasn’t there. He could ask her to go with him, but didn’t want to separate her from the pool which she was so mesmerized by. He did notice how she had to leave her drink back inside so he volounteered to get drinks. When he was inside, coming to the bar with her drink order and still figuring out what he wants to drink. He made it to the bar and turned around to look at her shape from afar, only to notice she was not there. The bartender approached at an ill opportune time, because just as he asked the man what he would like to order, Dave realized Ravi fell or was pushed into the pool and hasn’t resurphaced yet. It was then when Dave bolted to the pool and jumped in to the deep end close to where Ravi was standing. Now she was doing a doggy paddle trying to stay afloat. Dave grabbed her and pulled her to the shallow end of the pool, to the part where she could stand and where the water was a little above her shoulders so she wouldn’t freeze to death. “Ravi, are you okay? Are you cold?” He didn’t let her answer before asking one of the servants to bring them a big towel as if she said yes to both of his questions.
