As of right now, birth control pills are only available with a prescription. This means that in order to gain access to them, you have to go to your doctor and get one. However, there are some people who think that birth control pills should be available as an over the counter medication that you can just walk into your local drug store and purchase. What do you think? Should birth control pills be for sale over the counter?
Well…my friend has endometriosis. I’d say they should be over the counter.
no. I don’t think it should be, because it needs to be used when you’re actively behind the choice, if you’re able to buy it wherever, there will be people misusing it and will use it to hurt other people.
I agree, and also, doesn’t a prescription get a pill right for you? What if yours is out of stock and they don’t do prescriptions bc you can buy it at the store?
Well birth control isn’t only used for what it’s name implies. It can also help people with heavy flows or painful cramps have less severe periods. Some brands of birth control (like the one I have) even cause people to have periods less often. I wouldn’t mind it being over the counter so that I can have it easier and know that when the time comes, I won’t have to worry about the pain. But if that ends up sacrificing the quality and risking security, I’d rather have it continue to be over the counter.
I know, but it could still be misused and can have side effects that you don’t want. my parents don’t allow me to use them as long as its not needed.
so pain and suffering for me
I don’t see why not tbh
No, because women need to be monitored while on them. My blood pressure shot up to 170/120 on the pill.
Yes. It would reduce the chances of unwanted pregnancies, tbh.
