Tap, tap, tap. Akielah’s shoe tapped the floor as her fingers made rapid movements across her phone screen. She didn’t want to be there to begin with, and her distaste for the place grew with every second she spent there. Hurry the hell up so I can go already, she thought, and luckily someone soon came over to her, instructing that she ensure that she has no sharp objects on her person. “Is she restrained, as I requested? I’m not stepping foot near her if she isn’t.”

“She is Ms. Azure, I just made certain of it myself.”

Akielah gave a small nod in response before she was led into a room with a blonde sitting down, arms secured to a table. Even just seeing her from the back led Akielah to glare at her, which only increased at the sound of her words when she walked closer to sit down across from her. “Don’t look so sour sis. A little birdie told me that you’re in charge of the game now.”

“Don’t F**king call me that, Elettra. You’re not my sister, and you Never will be.” Akielah may have no choice but to share blood with her brother’s twin, but her sister was never a term that she would ever call Elettra. Kai may have a hard time letting go of Elettra being his sister, but Akielah would never get over the way she almost killed Kai when they were kids and again just a few years earlier, and even nearly killed Jess. The two were never even close as kids to begin with either. “I’m here, like you wanted, so can we just get this over with Elettra?”

“The game was never Malachi’s to give you, sister.”

“You threatened to go on a hunger strike to f**king bring me here for this? I’m running the game now, not you. You’re lucky you’re not rotting away in a prison cell right now! If it was my choice, that’s where you’d be right now.”

“The game was supposed to be mine! It was never supposed to be yours, and now you’re just going to run it into the ground. I at least thought our dear brother had the guts to make the commitment to it.”

“Unlike you Elettra, Kai knows when to step aside and let someone who is better for the job take over. I’m not you, but you were never going to be able to head Blue Royalty.”

“Face it sis, dear old dad is never going to see you as good enough. Doesn’t matter what kind of brain you’ve got in that pretty little head of yours. I was good enough until Malachi got in my way, and you, you’re never going to be what dad wants. Malachi is a growing disappointment, but you can never live up to dad’s ideal of what he wanted his son to be. You’ll never live up to dad’s expectations.”

“I know I’m never going to be what dad wants, but I’m doing things My way. I’m running the show, I’m making the changes to be better than dad was, than you ever could have dreamed of being Elettra. I don’t care what anyone thinks of how I run things, I’m doing what I want. I’m in charge, whether you like it or not.” Akielah stood up, stepping back from the table. She could rot in hell for all Akielah cared. Akielah wanted nothing to do with Elettra Azure. Though, before she could walk away, Elettra leaned across the table, well as much as she could with her restraints. “Before you go, tell me, how are they? The youngest of dad’s disappointments, what was her name again? Cassandra?”

Akielah shook her head at Elettra’s question and mention of the youngest Azure by name. “Like I would f**king tell you a thing about my family, Elettra. You don’t deserve to know a thing about anyone that matters to me.” Akielah responded, not even looking away before walking out and leaving the facility. What Elettra wanted out of the meeting, Akielah couldn’t say. Information, or simply the chance to get under Akielah’s skin, it didn’t matter. Either way Elettra still likely got exactly what she wanted.
