The “Something Old” - 2031 - Continued - PART 3

Dress: Check
Shoes: Check
Everything Else: Not Checked… bloody annoying… god help her

Suffice to say - planning a wedding was damn hard - no wonder she skipped it the first two times and went straight to the marriage part… well that and vodka… lots of vodka helped her in the marriage and divorce aspect. Honestly, all Jess wanted to do was focus on the food but nooo her wedding planner just had to be on her ass about things like invitations, and seating charts, and sigh dealing with calls from old, racist family members who are 1. still shocked that you’re not 100% white, and 2. annoyed that she had a child out of “wedlock”. At this point, Jess was just going to start telling people that Shay was one of those little people from Willy Wonka that she hired to make the wedding more theme-oriented. Or maybe that she was simply a science experiment gone awry… did that science experiment involve a lot of sex with her fiancee? Yes. Did her racist 94-year-old cousin need to know that? No.

In any case, after a long day of dress shopping (though she did find a dress that wasn’t half bad and she could breathe in), Jess found herself back home - her friends all in their various guest rooms as she put her little girl to sleep. Laying the girl down in her crib, Jess couldn’t help but smile watching her baby sleep. There were no words to describe how much she loved her baby… or even how happy she was with where her life was. After a few moments of making sure the babe wasn’t waking up, Jess left the room - a laugh leaving her lips when she heard childish screams coming from the children’s room who were likely supposed to be asleep by now. In either case, she left them to themselves before heading downstairs - a smile on her face as she found her friends gathered around the living room playing a game of “Is that Jess, or is that Anna” - something Daniel Parker had invented. Talking about Daniel…

“OH COME ON JEZEBEL, I really thought you would have been able to figure this out by now. Clearly that’s Jessica,”

Her grin grew seeing both Daniel and Jez who had seemingly arrived later than the rest of her party - something to do with an emergency meeting for Parker Industries. With the parents all downstairs, VC, Kaya, Laurel Will, and Emmy were all “asleep” upstairs - in other words, having a little party of their own trying to trick them that they were asleep even though everyone in the room knew they weren’t - which Jess caught in 4k after hearing them moments earlier. Either way, the lounge area now was only filled with the adults including Mareena, Val, Andy, Daniel, and Jezebel. Riker and Elodie were stuck in South Africa so neither could make it and Dylan was also busy, but in the grand scheme of things, this week was just supposed to be a low key thing anyways as they finalized some details for the approaching wedding - including a cake tasting tomorrow that they were all going to. Dorian had given her the blessing to choose the cake while he was filming promos or whatever. The most hilarious part of him giving her a “blessing” was that they both knew she was going to get whatever cake she liked anyways.

“Stop being mean to your sister, Dan. You know both those people on the screen are me. Stop trying to trick everyone,”

Joining the group, Jess added “I think you all have been playing this too long. Come on idiots, let’s move it to something more interesting. Who wants to high stakes play poker instead?” It was a game they often played together - well, at least, her, Val, Dan, and Jez did with the occasional joining in of Andy. Usually, the individuals in the room weren’t together enough to have a game night, let alone one involving poker.

“Oh are you all willing to lose? Because If I play, I promise you, it’s an automatic loss, darlings.” Jess couldn’t help but laugh as she found her mother walking in with a smile and a case of cards and chips that the butler was holding. She would give her mother this, the woman was trying this week. “And Daniel, no cheating… I’ve heard all about it from the rest of these people,” the woman soon reiterated, shooting Jess’ cousin a look which made the entire room burst with laughter as he fussed about “never” cheating.

As her mother started dealing cards with an expertise she hadn’t seen in years - her mom being the one to teach Jess and Anna years prior - Jess sighed, looking at her cards. Maybe she would have played for a round or two, but seeing the cards she had, Jess immediately folded. “I’ll be back, loves,” Jess stated, standing up from gathering and walking towards the kitchen to make popcorn. Though seeing her purse waiting there, Jessica couldn’t help but the small journal out. Flipping further ahead from the last page she read, Jess started skipping a page that caught her eye.
