The “Something Old” - 2031 - Part 7
“Jess… what happened?”
In the last few minutes, Jessica Pierce had practically jumped out of the bath she had been soaking in, not even caring to grab a towel despite dripping water everywhere, and ran outside grabbing the box of her mother’s things that were now moved to her own room. What? Jess was doing what any good journalist did - recon. Though, she was so stuck in her own head about what she just read that she hadn’t even given Dori a response since he had returned from reading their little girl to bed.
“It just… it bloody couldn’t be true Dorian… I just… let me just fcking check,” Jess muttered, emptying the box of pictures on her bed and going through them. While she had perused them before, Jessica hadn’t really taken the time to look at any of them. On the backs of most of them, Jess found dates with a simple phrase - usually along the lines of “Leo and me” on them. A few said Leonardo but none of them noted what Jess was hoping - though it was written clear as fcking day in the diary.
“Hey… talk to me,”
Jess felt Dori’s arms wrap around behind her, and for a second, Jess closed her eyes allowing her husband’s touch to calm her. “Azure is a common last name right? It has to be? Because in no world did my mother date Kai’s father… right?” Jess finally whispered, though clearly with the silence filling the room, she wasn’t the only one thinking… well… yeah.
“So that guy you’ve been reading about…”
“Is apparently Leonardo Azure according to this part of the diary,”
“Azure like…”
“I need to go talk to my mother… right now…,”
“Jess wait…”
“No Dori… I kind of feel like I need an answer tonight or I won’t be able to bloody sleep…”
“No Jess, that’s not…”
"Stop trying to talk me out of it love,
“Oh my god, Jess, I’m just trying to say, IF YOU WOULD LET ME, you might want to wear some clothes before storming into your mom’s room.”
Jess looked down and a sigh left her lips. Right. She was naked.
