It was baffling to Annie how little self-awareness Ricky had as he pinned the blame of Maddy leaving on her, she almost laughed. Her demeanour was a stark contrast to his, the fluidity of his movement indicating how ahead he had been with his drinks. Annie picked up her drink after the thought that she should probably catch up, especially if he was going to stick around here longer. 'If your ‘entertainment’ was that easy to scare, I don’t think the problem was me," She suggested, taking a long sip to get through whatever response he was going to come up with and who else he could blame instead.
Obviously Ricky had to give his own take on the mocking front, putting on a show to imitate her back. Annie rolled her eyes as he brought up her parents, in a manner similar to most of the public at the moment. “Very original,” She muttered. If it had been anyone else, Annie would have jumped to the defence of her parents. But for Enrique Montoya, she didn’t want to waste her time, despite the nerve he may have struck. “I wouldn’t worry about it,” Annie started, not denying his claims she was too good to talk to him, “Maybe one of these days some poor girl will fall for your ‘damaged’ charm,” She continued, using both hands to gesture in his direction on the last words. “Or at least grow to tolerate it, in some weird Stockholm syndrome-y kind of way,”" Before taking a drink and glancing around for her exit opportunity.
With no success, Annie’s gaze landed back on Ricky who was questioning her about her defensiveness and if it was just for him. “I’m not defensive,” She defended with a scoff. Okay, maybe she was being abnormally guarding in his company, but it’s not like she didn’t have good reason to. But she did not need him to tell her to lighten up. “Would love to,” Annie exclaimed as he suggested her take a shot, before picking up the bottle of liquor that he had been working through. Empty, as she had anticipated it being. “Huh. Seems like you kept all the fun for yourself,” She told him, her eyes travelling from the bottle to him.
