Elijah actually knew Napoleon went to the hospital but was too afraid to visit. He even sent him an anonymous card. Hearing that his mom was afraid he wouldn’t wake up made his mood sink even more. “At least your mom was there?” What was he saying he wondered. He was supposed to be saying sorry by now.
The roller coaster turned upside down, and Elijah was grateful he didn’t eat anything before getting on the ride. The memory of throwing up on himself and crying in embarrassment when he was little came into his mind, that combined with wondering how many people died on rollercoasters. Somehow, he was still having fun after these thoughts and looked over to Napoleon to see that he seemed to be having the time of his life.
Once the ride was over he saw Napoleon beginning to leave. Elijah felt glad that he didn’t have to look over his shoulder, wondering if Napoleon was going to get revenge, but he was also glad the guy got some kind of closure. He sped walk over to him. “Hey, I’m truly sorry for…everything.”
