Carter hadn’t planned on stopping by a small cafe that day, but when he drove by it happened to catch his eye. It was simply by chance that he found himself walking inside. He had just come in when his eyes met the gaze of the girl behind the counter. It was a girl around his age with the sweetest smile. There was no way to not smile in return as she asked how she could help. “I’m doing fine, better now actually.” Sometimes, all it takes is the sweet smile of a stranger to turn things around. At the very least, even just interacting for a few moments with someone nice was far better than thinking about the argument with his mother he had left the house to get away from. “I just came in to get a blueberry muffin. But what about you, how’s your day going? People aren’t being difficult for you I hope?”
