Three babies. Three newborn babies. Don’t get Jordan wrong, he loved them. He loved each and every one of them, but part of him was still dealing with the fact that he hurt his wife. He was… struggling with not being next to her every night with his arms around her, kissing her. And on top of that, he wasn’t sleeping. How could he? Part of him just wanted to make sure that Jez could sleep… the other part of him just couldn’t… his mind just going to every terrible thing he had done to Jez every time his eyes closed.
That was exactly why he was awake in the kitchen drinking his 6th cup of coffee when Jezebel’s phone started ringing… and with his wife being asleep for the first time in a long time as well…he answered it. That was what led him to a place he didn’t think he’d be finding himself back at this soon - the hospital with his stepdaughter covered in cuts. Jordan had seen her while she was still unconscious, and nothing could describe the worry he felt as he asked the nurses what was going on. And, for the last 20 minutes, he was tracking down the doctor only to learn that all the hospital knew was that someone had brought her in unconscious and that she would be okay.
“Sir, your daughter’s awake.”
Jordan turned to face a nurse who was walking towards him, thanking her immediately before walking back towards Laurel’s room. He heard her words, and a frown met his features as he took the seat next to her.
“I got the call that you were here and I was worried about you, Laurel. What happened? Are you feeling okay?”
