Since the moment the Blue Royalty post dropped, Annie had given Ricky no time to talk. No time to explain, because what was there to explain? How do you talk your way out of that? It was pointless for Annie to listen to him try, she knew what she needed to know, and knowing his perspective would not help at all. She didn’t want to hear him tell her sh!t like ‘I stopped pretending after a few weeks’, and at the same time she didn’t she want to hear a full admission to pretending the entire time. She would rather just hear nothing at all. And maybe Annie didn’t want to see him because maybe there was a lot of hurt she hadn’t processed and maybe she didn’t want him to see how he had affected her.
So a big fvck you to Cerulean High faculty for giving her the d@mned seat next to Enrique Montoya. Did they not keep up with the latest relationship news? Or did they do exactly that, and just wanted to see suffering for 11 hours on the plane? How on earth was she supposed to continue her mission to avoid him forever? It was easier to do that when it was messages and calls on her phone, and even when it was attempted approaches during school, but not necessarily so when it was a confined, can’t-get-out-of-seat scenario. And now it was almost impossible to ignore his question as to how she was.
“You know that time you came with me on the plane to London, do you remember how it felt when Raphael was also sat there and you were stuck with him for however long that was?” She responded after a moment of consideration. Annie watched as he realised the answer she was giving, not needing to connect the dots for him, that was all she needed to say. At the time, Annie found it somewhat funny when sitting with Paige between the two brothers despite their complete disgust. Perhaps karma worked against her this time - as it seemed slightly less humorous when the roles were reversed.
His next question made her raise her eyebrows at his poor choice of words. “How are my siblings?” Annie repeated. “Kyra is not interested. And also a minor,” She told him with judgement, even though she knew that wasn’t what he was asking. She nodded as he expanded on that he was referring to the babies. “They’re alive,” She answered, giving him all he needed to know - as the last time he was well-informed of her life there was one in critical condition.
After lasting moments into the conversation of pretending she hadn’t seen, Annie’s eyes switched to his hands that suggested a fight. “What does the other guy look like?” She asked him. In contrast to the concern she would have had a few weeks ago, Annie more so asked out of curiosity - and defeat in knowing she had to engage somewhat otherwise it would make for a mind-numbing flight.
