Clara walked down the hall of her practically empty house, backpack in hand. Her siblings’ bedroom doors were closed, the rooms were currently unoccupied, and Colin had left for work about an hour prior to Clara preparing to leave for school, meaning that she was practically alone in their large house. Her only comfort was the faint music coming from the basement, letting her know that her papa was in his studio. She knew better than to disturb him while he was working, so without saying anything, she picked up her keys and left the house.
On her way to the school, she stopped and got herself an iced coffee like she did every morning. She turned on the radio before pulling away from the coffee shop and driving towards the school. She drove the same route every morning, which might seem boring to some people, but for Clara, having something in her life that she could control and keep the same as long as she wanted was a comfort.
Arriving at the school, she drove into the parking lot, pulling her car into the first available spot she could find. She got out of her car and retrieved her bag before locking it and walking away. She walked through the parking lot, but as she neared the school, she was suddenly hit by the door of someone’s car. Stepping back, she got a good look at who had hit her. Phoebe Renee Taylor-DeLoughrey. The other girl was still looking at her phone and Clara gave her a death stare until she looked up. “I’d usually say good morning but watch where you’re going seems more appropriate now,” Clara rolled her eyes. “I could say the same to you,” She responded with a passive-agressive smile, crossing her arms. “Or were you not the one who just hit me with a car door while looking at your phone?”
