Blue Royalty: New Blood

“Well yeah, she died really young, right? There had to have been something that she wanted to do and never got the chance to.” She answered, shrugging. “Yeah, my grandmother used to spy on her next door neighbour because she was convinced that he was hiding something. She died before she could find out the truth. If she’s haunting anyone, it’s him.” She explained with a small giggle, remembering how she and her mother would always find her grandmother sitting inside her curtains, watching this neighbour’s house. She listened as Daiane continued to explain her ‘positive haunting’ idea. “That does actually sound pretty nice.” She commented, agreeing with her.

As Daiane continued talking, Embry found herself unable to do anything but listen to the girl she once loved. The longer she listened, the more she could feel her throat tighten and as Daiane wiped her tears, Embry began fighting off her own. As much as she wanted to stay angry with Daiane, to continue to convince herself that she hated her, watching her fall apart was agonizing. When Daiane finally met her gaze, something snapped in the back of her mind and despite her better judgement, she found herself pulling the other girl into a hug.

“Dai…” She whispered, finally finding her voice as she continued to hold onto her. She sighed, blinking back the tears that were beginning to fall from her eyes. “You have no idea how much I wish we could go back to the way things were. What I would give to still be able to hold you and call you mine.” She confessed as she let her hands fall, taking a step back before delicately wiping away her tears, trying not to completely wreck her makeup.
