There was something about Olivia’s smile that simply was… calming. The banter between the two almost felt easy - similar to how he felt around Veronica Charlotte… without the addition of a competition that is. Love you VC, but you’re going to lose sweetie. After all, Mason was simply a competitive guy. Why else would he be participating in such a competitive sport such as football? Losing wasn’t in his nature - and he was simply casually trailing behind VC to make her think she had the advantage, until he swooped in at the very end and she wouldn’t have enough time to do anything to fix it. At least, that was the plan. But competition wasn’t what he was thinking when he was talking to Olivia - rather, he was just enjoying the conversation - one that continued as they walked deeper down a hall with their group close by. There were still others around them, but Mason was far too invested in the conversation to pay attention to them as she joked along with him.
“Maybe that police officer was looking for me, you still have time to run,” he joked, though his smiled dropped with the conversation shifting over to why she was here. It was difficult… he imagined, losing her parents and that was seen clearly as she attempted to change the course of the conversation with a smile.
“LOOK OUT”
Someone yelled behind them, and immediately - as if it was in his nature - Mason grabbed Olivia and pushed her to the side, barely missing a football that two idiots were throwing in the hallway - two that clearly weren’t football players shown by the lack of their throwing skills. “Really guys?” Mason sighed, looking over at them. Though in the process of pressing Olivia against the wall so she wouldn’t get hurt, he noticed that the wall seemed slightly ajar. Ignoring their proximity, he moved away - inspecting the wall and pushing in further to reveal another dimly lit hallway. “I think, Olivia, It’s time to stray off the yellow brick road,” he whispered, referencing the Wizard of Oz as he slipped inside the small space leading to the hallway. He had left the group - he knew that much though he didn’t exactly want to talk to Logan anyways. However, as he entered the space, besides the cobwebs, he noticed paintings on the wall.
“Well this is creepy” he whispered, noticing someone following him - soon revealed to be Olivia. “Liv, did no one teach you not. to follow strangers into dark hallways found in abandoned haunted houses?” he joked for a second, taking his phone out and turning on the light. He noted that the moment they walked in - some type of lever pulled the entrance closed so they were completely alone… meaning there was, indeed, only one way out. To keep walking forward.
