Diego just needed things to make sense again. Diego used to feel like everything was the way it was supposed to be. He never imagined everything would turn out the way it had, and it seemed like the life he had always known was coming apart at the seams. He just needed to know if this was real. He couldn’t go on without being sure. It meant a lot to Diego to hear Raph say that no matter what the results were, he would always be his brother. That’s what Diego wanted most, his family to still be his family. As dysfunctional as the Montoya family could be, they were the family he had always known. His parents, his little sister Isabella, and his brothers, both Raph and Ricky. They were his family, and DNA would never change that, but why did it have to push everything into chaos? “Thanks, bro. Either way, I’m glad you’re my brother.” Was part of him still worried that Raph would change his mind if the results confirmed that they weren’t brothers? Yes, he knew he was overthinking it, but he couldn’t shake the idea that these results would change so much.
It was just a few moments later that someone walked up to them, papers in hand. They had the results. “What does it say? Is my brother actually my brother? Am I really part of my family?” he blurted out, unable to stop himself from asking the questions before she could pass them the paper with all of the information. “According to these results, yes, your brother is actually your brother. There was a direct match to Enrique Montoya.”
