At that moment when they were both silent, Phoebe scanned Diego’s face, his expression trying to get a glimpse of what he was thinking. Hoping she got him a little bit confused and… turned on? This was just exciting, okay? When do you get a chance to play with someone like this? Almost never. But don’t worry, she’ll soon get bored of it and start being nice again.
A sweet giggle left her mouth as she still stood so close to him, hearing him finally starting to respond to her words. Maybe I should’ve said something like that, he started, making Phoebe slightly furrow her brows but he cut himself off. As much as she wanted to hear it coming directly from him, see it happening just to experience that Montoya charm everyone seemed to like, that not happening was what was making their interactions interesting. But this time when she heard yet another compliment Phoebe simply smiled, quietly thanking him while her mind was still stuck on what he previously said. Maybe… she wouldn’t change anything about him. She found entertainment in the way he was and having another playful guy in the see of playful guys wouldn’t be as fun. It was refreshing to see someone who was, just… nice?
But… it was also nice hearing him actually saying something flattering without stuttering which surprised her. It was just confusing. To her dunk mind, this was starting to get confusing so she tried to shake all of her thoughts away, even the fact that he was actually a really good looking guy. She has noticed that, yes, who wouldn’t? He was a Montoya after all, but she only let herself actually acknowledge it minutes ago, while she was still standing close to him. ”Oh wow,” Phoebe started, another cheeky smile appearing on her lips again as she rested her elbows on the bar and her chin in the palm of her hand. ”You really think it’s better with me here? I think you’re just being too sweet to me but I appreciate it. You know…” letting her gaze wander off to the side as she pretended to think, her smile turned into a smirk before looking back at him. ”We’ll be having more classes together, hopefully. I expect you to save me a seat next to you and-” But before she got a chance to continue that, she spotted someone.
There was one person Phoebe was both excited and mad to see. To spend this last year with because this person… Well, this person she hated more than she could ever hate someone else. Now, hate is a very strong feeling but nothing is too much when that person has been the biggest trash to you and your sister. If you don’t know who this person is, I’d usually recommend not even trying to figure it out but not in this case. In this case, you should know who it is just so you could stay away from the biggest jerk in the history of the biggest jerks - Maxon Russo. Phoebe’s whole demeanour changed when she spotted the guy from the corner of her eye, just walking around without a care in the world. Who knows, maybe that’s not how he felt but Phoebe wanted to make sure that he never had a single good day this year. Ever since she found out what he was really doing with her and her sister, she gave herself a mission to make his life miserable. To make him regret ever playing with her and the person she cared the most about… and how would she do that? Well… she had plenty of ideas. She spent days trying to perfect her plans but there was one thing option that seemed more interesting.
She’d pretend to be Amelia and give him false hope of successfully finishing his dare but only end up embarrassing the guy. Did she ask Amie for an opinion? No… did she know Phoebe was going to do that? No. Not yet, or maybe she wouldn’t even tell her. All along she was thinking about setting some rules for him: he can talk to “Amelia” only when she’s the one approaching simply because her sister is not in on it and would probably only mess it up if she was, and he can’t tell anyone, especially not “Phoebe”. She just had to start working on it as soon as possible and this party seemed like the best option. The only problem is - he could figure out who he’s really talking to because only one twin was at the party and Phoebe was… well, being Phoebe. This fun girl in a white dress. Even in this drunken state, she was thinking about details, not wanting to mess up. So what did she have to do? Change.
”Will you stay here? Yes? Great!” Phoebe mumbled, a sweet smile on her lips, her hand for God knows what time resting on Diego’s chest, not giving him a chance to respond. As she often did. Not only with him but everyone else. ”I have… have to do something,” at this point all the drinks she had were really starting to hit her, making her slightly stumble over her words but that was never something she paid much attention to. So what if she seemed drunker now? She was having fun, mind your own business.
Leaving Diego standing there alone, Phoebe just started walking around looking for a person who could help her in this situation and bingo - lovely Kaya. ”Kaya! Come here,” grinning, Phoebe ran up to her cousin, taking her hand and immediately dragging her towards the bathroom. It didn’t matter if she was going somewhere, if she was in the middle of something… Phoebe had to do a very important thing and Kaya was the first person she found. ”I need a huge favor,” locking the door behind her after she pushed Kaya inside, Phoebe for a second stopped, laughing at herself and the weird thing she was about to say… demand. ”Am I drunk? Yes. But I need your dress for a second,” once again she did not give the other person enough time to react instead, she started taking off her own dress, a serious look on her face.
When she finally had another dress on, she walked out of the bathroom promising Kaya she’d be back in a minute and just started looking around the spinning room, searching for “Amie’s soon to be lover”. Ew. The thought of that was making her sick but a girl’s gotta do what a girl’s gotta do. Her eyes soon landed on her victim and she started making her way towards him. Time to act like her sister… or just not like herself. ”Hey…” her voice soft and quiet, quieter than the music “Amelia” tapped Maxon on the shoulder before crossing her arms and pretending to feel uncomfortable. It wouldn’t be that hard if she didn’t feel disgusted the moment she met his blue eyes. ”I… I… can… Phoebe can’t know I’m here, she would kill me.” Phoebe started, avoiding Maxon’s gaze and looking around the place almost paranoid… her way of pretending she was trying to avoid her sister and hope she doesn’t see her. Was she doing a good job at trying to look convincing? Hopefully. It was good that the two of them were identical so it was hard to figure out which one was which, when you weren’t that close to them. ”I just… I wanted to say hi,” with those words, she forced the sweetest smile she could put on, finally looking back at him before once again looking away, this time shyly. ”I was… uhm… Thinking about you… I was thinking about you a lot this summer and…” looking down at the ground, “Amelia” smiled to herself, her arms still crossed. ”Phoebe would really kill me if she knew this… can… uhm. Can we talk sometime? Just… just not in school or… anywhere else really… I mean… I just don’t want her to see me so… I’ll talk to you when I can? That’s if… if you still want that?” She quickly looked up at him, trying to keep a sweet smile before adding, ”Uhm… See you around? Bye,” and running away from the guy.
Worst minute of Phoebe’s life and trust me when I tell you she had some bad things happen to her. Gagging at the thought of what she did, how close she was to that person, she walked back into the bathroom to return Kaya’s dress. Thank you babe. ”Don’t ask,” being the only thing she told her before announcing there was a guy she needed to get back to. How did she manage to do all of this so calmly was a miracle. The minute Phoebe stepped out of the bathroom she could really feel the consequences of everything she had to drink. She had that luck of never feeling sick, her only problem was balance and this room that wouldn’t fcking stop spinning. Leaning back against the closest wall, she closed her eyes thinking that would somehow fix how she was feeling but it wasn’t working.
