“… yeah I’ll take a taxi,”
Marinette wasn’t pleased with Cynric’s attitude at all, crossing her arms with a pair of furrowed brows to express that. She understood why he was acting like that though, and if she was in his shoes it’d probably be an unavoidable situation. But, as a mother, she wanted to help connecting the tie between him and his sister, Darling, who—despite her straight face—she could see was offended by him. “Cynric Rhys Redling,” she called out as her son reached for the door. Alarmed at the sound of her demand, he stopped and turn around, a hint of guilt and fear of defying her on his face despite the attempt of hiding it. “Sebastian will drive you and your sister to the party whether you like it or not. Otherwise, I will have you stay until tomorrow. Do you want that?” It has almost been a year, or maybe it has been a year and more months, and yet the relationship between them wasn’t getting any better. Yes, that was how much Cynric disliked her. In fact, it probably even grew worse the more he saw her being able to make his father smile.
He groaned in protest, landing his eyes onto Darling who looked like he was staring straight into his soul. He noticed how the girl rarely smiled, only doing it to a small number of people a.k.a his family minus him. After a couple of seconds seemingly mentally warring with her, he finally gave in, opening the door behind him and sarcastically gestured for Darling to come outside first. “After you, I guess…” he said with a sigh in between, inviting Darling outside. The girl looked at Marinette, excusing herself with a small smile before going outside. Cynric also took a last look at her mother, whose expression seemed to have gone lighter. He waved at her, “I’ll go, love you.”
And so, they sat in one car silent. Cynric chose to sit beside the driver, Sebastian, who happened to be his cousin; he couldn’t bear the upcoming awkward atmosphere if he sat beside her. He chatted with Sebastian through the ride, though, and Darling was silent, which made him forget she was ever there. When they arrived, Cynric immediately parted with her, leaving her outside and never intending to see her. At least that’s what he prayed to happen.
Greeting a few buddies on his way, his heart pumped a little louder, reminding him of the tasks he needed to do. The other one was hopefully not too hard, but the other… he was still thinking on how to pull it off. Taking a deep breath to relieve him of the nervousness, he took a drink from the passing server and sipped while continue walking. He’d like to spend some time with his friends, but they seem to have another businesses. Cynric shrugged, New friends are always better, I guess… He thought with a small sigh, walking towards the bar. Yes, he already has a drink, but he knew the bar was always a good idea to come for acquaintances. A plus point—a seat and a chance to look cool on it.
“A p0rnstar martini, please,”
His eyes widened, choking on his own drink and spitting it. Wiping his lips, he looked at who said it. It was a new face, perhaps one you could never expect to say the word. Cynric didn’t want to judge, though—but can one really not? “That’s… unique,” he commented, resting his arm on the counter. “Sorry 'bout that, was just surprised. No judgments.” He laughed, hanging his hands on the air as if to give in to cops. Taking a sip, he kept eye contact with her, hoping the girl wasn’t too offended to leave him there.
