Candice smiled as she walked around the venue, waving at her friends and thanking the people who told her happy birthday. In reality. Candice Clarke knew that 99% percent of the people wishing her happy birthday likely didn’t even care - and she couldn’t blame them. After all, it was simply a nicety - a social norm of sorts that everyone was forced to follow - her included. Smile, wave, pretend, repeat. Always the same. Though, there was a shortlist of people with who she didn’t have to pretend with… who she could be her full self with… which is what made her regret what she had planned for that night.
After a few minutes of walking around the venue and strategically avoiding her date, Calen Hunter, CC found herself wandering over to the confession tree. A pen and paper soon in her hand as she wrote something on the card that… she’d honestly probably regret if someone ever connected it back to her. Though.. she needed to do this. Needed to get something off her shoulder and right now.. tonight… it was the only way she could. Putting the pen down, Candice discretely hid the card - tucked into the side of the tree so someone would really have to look to find it. But it was better that way.. perhaps it was better if no one ever found it.
With that, Candice put the pen down and found herself looking around the venue once again - but this time, it wasn’t without purpose. Writing the secret down made her heart race… what the hell was she doing? Candice was losing her nerve… but she couldn’t let that happen. Though her mind faltered to her friends.. her actual ones… and one in particular. Valerie.
A frown made its way onto her features as she finally caught an eye of her… well the back of her head. Seeing the girl - only one thought made it’s way to Candice’s mind. Candice needed to tell her. If anyone… it had to be her* - a last-minute decision that she would likely regret. Without standing still - knowing she’d double guess what she was about to do if she did - Candice walked towards the dance floor with her mindset that she would tell her best friend everything. Well… that was until Candice got closer… only to see Val and Dominic kissing - stoping her instantly in her tracks. But at that point it was too late, even if CC wanted to retreat… she couldn’t.. they had already seen her.
“I’m… uh” Candice mumbled, approaching the two - losing all confidence in what she was going to say to Val. “I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to bother.. um… you two. I was just…” Candice started, still flustered at the fact that the two were kissing. “Right… I was just saying hi… have a great night you two,” Candice finished her sentence and walked away as quickly as she had come.
