For the first time in… her life, Delilah tried to be patient. She tried and wanted to find a reasonable explanation for this, she was looking for a way for it to maybe be okay. But the more he spoke, the less of a chance there was of that even being a possibility. Word after word he spoke she only grew more distressed, infuriated and, even, heartbroken. He knew. He tried to tell her. Daniel began to answer her accusations of not looking for secrets in his own family. How he wanted to protect them. How he had always speculated. Delilah could only take that in a way that he always thought something like this had happened, but never cared enough to do something about it, and now, here Delilah was, a product of his family’s foul play. Though Daniel realised how his words could have been interpreted a moment too late as her slap interrupted him.

While Daniel was mid-excuse, Delilah had thrown her hand forward as hard as she could, hitting the side of his face, with the strength from her continuously building flood of emotions. As his head was jolted to the side, Delilah turned away from him, distancing even further from him to take a gasp for air to prevent herself from completely breaking down.

“You’re not sorry,” She said, breaking the silence that had infiltrated the room once again, sharing the thought as soon as it came to mind, before turning around and expanding, cracks in her voice appearing through phrases. “You’re not sorry, you’re not, you- you can’t be. Because… you’re going to leave this room and… and continue to relentlessly torture anyone who so much as… looks at you funny. And… expose their biggest mistakes… and send them or their f^cking family members to prison… and let people end up like this- like me,” She stopped herself from continuing, then her next line came in a lot less stable tone - one that came through tears, “And how can I ever forgive you when you do the same thing to any and everyone else?”

After a long moment, Delilah finally regained the emotionless persona she had started the conversation with. “You not telling me about it wasn’t because you didn’t want to see me hurt,” She said, becoming more convinced of the fact when she said it out loud. “No, it was going to come out eventually, the hurt was… inevitable and you knew that. You… you just didn’t want to, for a second, look like the bad person you call everyone else out for being.”
