Aside from Daniel Parker’s little visit to Kai’s place, since that date with Jess after the fashion show, things were going well. He was still working on finding the surveillance devices left by Anna Pierce, but he was slowly finding and destroying them. Over the two weeks, Kai and Jess had been practically inseparable, despite Daniel’s urging for them to stay away from each other. They spent time together during the day, and nearly every night he held her close, ensuring that she didn’t go out at 3 in the morning and get herself into trouble. Somehow, Kai actually really liked Jess, something he didn’t necessarily expect in the beginning. He didn’t want her getting hurt, he enjoyed having her close, and he was even more himself around her. She was so different from him, but in a way, that’s what he liked so much about her.
May 13th, also known as Kai’s birthday, though Kai wasn’t someone who made a big deal out of his birthday and hadn’t in a long time. Kai was normally someone who got up early in the mornings, though that didn’t mean that he wanted to get out of bed when he was laying there with a sleeping Jessica. However, he got out of bed extra early and stepped out of his bedroom for a phone call he had to make, as he always did each year.
“What the hell do you mean that she’s gone?” Kai said to the individual on the other end of the call.
“We’re sorry Mr. Azure, but Elettra’s not here.”
“How did you neglect to tell me she’s missing?”
“Apologies Mr. Azure, I do not know what happened for the message to not get to you. I will find out what I can and let you know anything.”
That phone call was not a pleasant start to his birthday, but there was nothing he could do about it at that point, so he went to take a shower. He had seen that Jessica had still been in bed asleep, but he hadn’t been in the shower long before she came in, joining him in the shower. He put his arms around her as she brought her arms around his neck, whispering in his ear. “I’ll make it very worth your while.” Kai said, hands feeling her body, then bringing his lips to her skin.
