The past month has been very eventful. eventful? was that a word fitting enough to describe everything that has happened in Yara’s life lately? like, having one of your best friends literally dying and then coming back to life isn’t exactly one of the things people usually expect in a period of time someone would describe describe as eventful. They’d expect a busy week with Rachel’s engagement party on sunday after a double shift where Leo had to take off in the middle because his sister was giving birth to twins, all happening during final exams month, and not a miraculous resurrection of a girl who was stabbed by her ex boyfriend’s mentally unstable twin sister who escaped treatment. But that was the case here, welcome to C high pal.
Sadie being injured was also a hard blow, as seeing how hard it was for her cousin/mental brother Jordan, she tried to be there for him as much as she could. She knew how hard it was for him as he and Sadie have been getting quite close lately, and she did know him long and well enough to notice in his signs and body language that he really liked her, maybe even more than that, which was good. It was about time he got over Jezebel, because honestly he deserved the world and being stuck on this one girl like that was not it. Sadie and him on the other hand… kind of has a nice sound to it.
Speaking of Jordan, another thing that has happened in the last month was the finalisation of her name change, taking back her mother’s maiden name, aka Williams, yet another not-so-perfect family. She knew she couldn’t complain about her step father for what he had done, at least not now, he was too powerful and if she went head on into that war it would only end one way. And it wasn’t a good way. But either way, she hated that man and everything he had done to her, he was a part of her life she didn’t want to hold on to, especially not now when she was so close to graduating and embarking on her own adult life for real. So for now, that was it. Even though it wasn’t as simple, because unlike many normal people her age, Yara actually had a name recognised on the media, so even if it would take time for people to get used to, for her it mattered, it was a good change for her she in a way felt happy about.
But back to the previous note of said guy with the psycho stabbing twin sister, aka one Malachi Azure, boy got engaged. Like, damn, he’s legit getting married and the thought of it didn’t even make any possible sense in Yara’s brain as she stood in front of the Listaria castle, all fancied up in her gorgeous tight dark red dress. Kai was getting married. what the actual fcuk? It seemed like everything has been happening so fast, as looking back she remembered how only a few months ago she found herself shocked to see him again as they both seemed to move\return to Beryl around the same time, and how later on he started dating Jessica, and now… Where the hell did that marriage come from?
Not that it mattered as much, Kai was many things, but one of these things was a grown man who can handle and take good care of himself, so there was no need to worry. And while he’s doing that, well… Yara might as well just enjoy the party while it was still good, am I right or am I right?
Unlike many of her fellow classmates, Yara has actually been to a royal event such as this in the past, so the whole atmosphere surrounding her wasn’t as weird or different for her as it may have been to some others. The part of it that was indeed different, was the fact that almost their whole senior class was there, and that wasn’t something you’d usually expect to see in a royal wedding.
And there she was, wandering around the fancy, decorated and crowded venue, taking a glass of champagne from one of the waiters passing by, mingling and making small boring small talk with people. So when a familiar good face caught her attention, she couldn’t help but smile “Mav, hey!” she greeted the green eyed boy in front of her with a bright smile.
Truth be told, there was a time in the past where Yara actually started to potentially like Maverick, not in a friend way, and she never necessarily admitted it, not to him and not to herself. The two have been friends for years, frankly he was probably one of the people in her life who had known her longest and best. But it wasn’t as simple as that, so whatever it was, it died unnoticed, buried in the sands of life’s circumstances. Or at least it was, until the day Yara found herself somewhat jealous as he told her he was going on something that could potentially be a date, though she had absolutely no actual right so be jealous. So was it dead? Or was it pulling a Jessica?
But that was a thing about Yara, she was a jealous person, she didn’t necessarily like that, but it was a feeling she couldn’t just ignore. It was why she turned all salty on Valerie, it was why she used to dislike Delilah, and it was now why Dominic wasn’t exactly something she’d find nice to look at. It wasn’t a good thing, but it meant she cared, maybe even a bit too much.
Though she was working on not letting her jealousy thrive like that, it was still work in progress, like with Valerie, frankly she didn’t have an actual reason to dislike her, and before prom the two were actually cool, but seeing her with Daniel that day was just… no. But now? Well, it honestly seemed like they were happy in a way, both of them. And eventually all she wanted was for him to be happy, because as much as he may have changed, he still deserved it.
”You look… really good” she said with a friendly smile, complimenting the boy’s appearance ”Considering to go ahead and plan some more fancy events just for that” she added with a light chuckled. In a way, for her, this event with all her classmates and friends all fancied up, was kind of like a semi compensation for missing out on senior prom, which was actually pretty nice.
Explanatory babbling aside, Yara was in fact in a surprisingly really good mood, so as she was talking to Maverick, her attention and glance was slightly shifted, by a song played by the quartet, ”Oh I love that song!” she said quietly, and turned to look back at the boy ”Dance with me?” she suggested, raising a suggestive brow with a light fun smile , either way she was bound to find herself dancing eventually, this was what she did after all.
