Though the pair spent their childhoods an ocean apart, Valerie Wood truly was like another sister to Kai. She was important to him and he’d do anything for her, but it also meant he knew her extremely well, and she knew him better than most. Though, it wasn’t enough for him to be able to convince her to let him have that drink. “One drink won’t kill me.” Then with a slight shrug in response to her saying he could like the princess eventually he said, “We can only hope you’re right on that Val.” As of that point, he had met his fiancé, and over their mere couple of interactions, he didn’t have the feeling that he’d fall for her at all. A loveless marriage was in store for him beyond his wedding, much unlike how he would have wanted to marry a girl he was completely, truly in love with and couldn’t stand to live another day of his life without her. Unfortunately for Kai, at that point someone came in to say they were starting in less than 10 minutes.
10 minutes, that’s how long Kai had before he would be standing there in front of so many people watching a princess walk down the aisle. Soon after that, he would be a married man. There would be no going back to his life before. Leaving the room they had been gathered in, preparing for the wedding to officially begin, Kai saw someone. Someone he needed to speak with before it was too late. Kai glanced to Valerie for a moment with a look telling her not to worry. “I need a minute.” He walked over to someone helping, giving them instructions to give the message to that individual to meet him. 5 minutes. Kai really needed that drink. Just as he began to think it would be too late, the door opened, and Kai took a deep breath as he saw her. “Jess…”
