Malachi Azure
There was so much going on for Kai. Physical pain, emotional pain, fear and worry about the people he cared about and the fire, dread for what his life would be because of the wedding, and shock about having a son. A little boy that was happy and healthy, who had a mother that clearly cared about him so much if the quantity of pictures and the way she talked about him was any indicator. He just nodded along slightly as he listened to Candice talk about their son. She passed her phone to him, and despite it not being the easiest to do with his broken hand, he looked through more photos of the boy than he could count. He was just finishing his senior year, but he already knew he would want kids of his own one day, and that he wanted to be the best father he could be. He didn’t expect to have had a kid when he did, but that changed nothing. Family was important to Kai, especially on the matter of kids. His kids, his own flesh and blood. He cared so much about his family, but even Kai would admit that his relationship with his parents wasn’t as positive as it should have been. Kai wanted to be better than that, a better father for his son than his father was for him. It was just a lot more complicated than it would have been had he found out that morning. Now, he was married to a princess, which made him a prince, and he was going to be living in a completely different country from Candice and their son. He couldn’t be in the boy’s life how he wanted to be, he knew that, but he wanted to be there as much as he could manage. “Thank you for telling me Candice. I want to meet him. I want to know Zachary and be in his life. Anything he needs, or that you need, I’ll make it happen.”
