Delilah could see that the question had caught Kara off-guard and really hit her, and she could see that even the drunken Candice had surprisingly noticed it too. Kara replied hastily, and Delilah knew that was a way to cover up the fact that she was upset. Though she should feel bad, Delilah only felt satisfied. Besides, Kara had basically been asking for it since the moment she sat with them, challenging Delilah was always a mistake - and it was time Kara finally learnt that.
“Please, I never was in love with him,” Delilah replied when Kara redirected the question at her. Delilah wasn’t (and had never been) in love with anyone, especially not someone like Dorian who she’d hooked up with one time. It was what made being someone like her so easy if you don’t love anyone you don’t have moments where you are caught off-guard - Kara being the perfect example of this. As her eyes wandered back down to where Candice was, she could hear inaudible mumbling coming from her to Kara, to which Delilah rolled her eyes.
She briskly stood up and looked down at the butt-hurt Kara and intoxicated Candice. “Well, this has been riveting,” Delilah stated with blunt sarcasm. “But now I’m going to go… anywhere but here.” Without waiting for a response from them, she turned her back to them and strutted back inside. Delilah stopped immediately when she saw someone sat at the bar: Lyonrad Sei Fulcruth.
There was an empty seat next to his, and so Delilah went and took it. She looked him up and down, knowing almost instantly that he had been drinking a bit too much. “Well, you look horrendous,” Delilah commented, humorously.
