dance two: albina northwick
Atlas noticed a brief disappointment in Albina’s face. Had he offended her? Atlas was not very good at expressing his feelings with others; perhaps that is where he went wrong here and misspoke. He was not sure if he could say something. Albina seemed to be thinking really hard about something, and he did not really feel like interrupting that. Atlas averted his gaze from Albina as she feigned a smile once more and asked him another question. “If I am being quite honest, although I would enjoy all those characteristics I had mentioned before for a lady, at this time it will be too draining and tiring for me to keep up with. I, for the moment, do not have the strength to deal with that.” He told her, hoping she would not take it in an offensive way, but that was how he truly felt. Atlas just wanted to be at peace for a moment and not have to worry about a lady always testing him. He especially did not want his heart to be someone’s next challenge on how long his heart will beat for them until it gives up fighting for their love.
Atlas laughed at Albina’s answer regarding his invitation for her to travel with him. “Yes, believe me, I am very aware of how much society will frown upon this, and I am set on my decision to not marry this season, but…” He said before he whispered in her ear as they came closer once again, “If a lady ever needs some saving from these society expectations, why not be her hero and get society off both our backs?” Atlas said in a playful manner back, but perhaps there was some truth behind them.
