Dance 2: with Lady Lydia (@novella)
Lydia responded by suggesting that even he misjudged things occasionally and even though he agree deep down that he did this more often than one would like, he didn’t utter this. Only did he offer a humble smile and small head tilt while continue their dance, touching their opposing hands - both right - as they glided around in a clockwise direction.
Then Magnus’ smile warmed up a little more upon the conversation about the Diamond of the ball. Although talk of a future became something he wanted to escape. “Thank you, Lady Lydia,” he responded. “Adeline is indeed a remarkable woman, as are you, and I wish you both happiness. I do not, however, wish to bring upon the troubles of not conforming. Perhaps I make it look easy, but away from prying eyes, life has not been peaceful.” Hearing Lydia’s own aspirations to escape, Magnus felt a deeper sense of kinship with her. “The gardens truly are a sanctuary, a place to briefly escape the intensity of this environment,” Magnus agreed. “And yes, you can count on me to know where to find you.”
Listening to the music, Magnus could hear that this dance only had a few more bars to play and was drawing to a close. Looking around at the other dancers on the floor, his gaze shifted back to Lydia, “Speaking of the diamond, more so the one of last season,” Magnus began gently, his tone sincere. “I couldn’t help but notice Aurelia looks almost as graceful as you. How is she faring lately? I haven’t an opportunity to talk with her this evening and I genuinely hope she’s doing well.”
