The white face of the earlier era was giving way to a more natural look, which meant less reliability on the white face paint. It was still used to some extent, rather sparingly, by older women trying to hide the ravages of time and by women of ill repute.

There is an interesting section on cosmetics here that I think summarizes it well! They were not as extreme on what you said the white look anymore, but surely they used some sorts of make-up!

Yeah, this source seems correct and in agreeance with my point, that they were not too extreme on white face paint but still used like the powders, rouges and some other types of make-up… It all seemed very natural, but there was a lot, and I talk a lot, of effort that went into it.

Yes, but they didn’t use it like we did today, like from what I’ve gather throught the years it wasn’t pigmented at all!

It actually is interesting tho, I do not think anyone here has really shown all the details that get into a lady getting ready, it’s a full day program for such a massive event as the season opening.
