Then I will do the Puerto Rican Plena. Example below:
Influenced by Bomba (not to be confused with la bamba), a dance with African roots, la Plena pretty much poked fun at higher class society…and eventually it just became its own folk dance fusion.
Plena (as a character) would be a woman that fronts as no-nonsense, but has the biggest sense of humor of the neighborhood. A flower adorns the side of her hair, and a brightly colored skirt of any hue provides contrast to a ruffled white shirt. She’d be a big gossip, but would never miss an opportunity to dance and party. The financial stability of the family always on the forefront, she doesn’t hesitate to dole out any punishment to a husband that gambles away their hard-earned money.
