Character Limits in RPs and SGs

Some RPs and SGs will allow you to make as many characters as you want, while others limit the amount of characters that you can make.

Do you prefer a limit on characters that can be made?
What is a good character limit?

At the beginning of the RP, maybe. It stops people from going nuts, but once the rp has started, I think the limit should be lifted.

Like three or four

OMG LIMIT CHARACTERS THE BABY P-ERS COULD GET TOO MUCH ON THEIR SHOULDERS WE DONT WANT THAT!!
also, quality. the more characters you have the more progressively vague they become cos u have to divide your attention.

i would say, a good character limit is three probably

one, GREAT to have one char but kinda risky
two, good for learning purposes, very nice
three, gr8 for when you have no life, not as fun cos its alot to keep up with, only for pushy little f*ckers who think they can handle it; usually end up crumbling

A LIMIT!!!

Idk just so you RP with lots of people! I feel like when there is no limit, people tend to make a lot of characters and you might end up having multiple of your characters with theirs. So like- your only RPing with them, but with multiple people! But if there is a limit, you tend to RP with more users! Idk if that made any sense-

Do not limit me :sob: 25+ character in FTD and I’m not stopping for anyone whatsoever. Let them make the characters, if they don’t use it that’s their own work going to waste.

For some RPs I understand that a character limit is needed, usually at 2-4 characters. However, in most it should just be however much the RPer is comfortable with, for some that may only be one or two, but for others that could be as many as they have ideas for. The key is making sure that you have a variety of characters in your group when you have many. Don’t make them all alike, and the more you have the easier it will be to experiment with a character outside your comfort zone because you also have others that you are more accustomed to.

Same here! 20 created, and 2 more in progress at the moment, and I don’t plan on stopping creating them! The more characters the better!

I don’t. Not a fan of making only 2 or 4 characters

I’d say 10 or 5.
You want enough characters so you don’t get bored, but also so it doesn’t get overwhelming.

I would say no limit. It’s good to learn your limits but you should also be allowed to push them a little. If it doesn’t work most of the time one will be cut off anyway. Sometimes it’s also a way to see what kind of character works and which don’t.

I usually don’t care becuase I can only controll up to 4 at a time and that’s usually the limit. However, if the RP includes deaths I think it should not have a limit or the limit should be high

2-4 is usually the limit I see. Sometimes limits make me not be rash in making characters for RPs when I’m waaay to excited or I end up making a bunch of char I’m never gonna use or I won’t be able to controll due to the big number of other chars. Making 4 the limit is my favorite tho because that’s enough for me to put my excitement about the RP while making extra characters without making too many of them.

I think it depends on RP if RP if for example RP is based on fairy tales or something else who has limited choice of characters then I would say make a limit, so one person won’t be able to take all the popular ones or something like that.

On every other case, I would say let them make how much they wants.

That makes sense.

It depends on the RP itself. If it is a roleplay like FTD, CHB, or Las Levendas for example, SORRY I LOST MYSELF IN THE PROGRESS OF THIS AHHHH IDK THE TERM then maybe a limit can be given to give chances to the other RPers who want to join it. HOWEVER, NO. FTD WILL NOT HAVE LIMITS BECAUSE THE UNIVERSE IS BIG AND JUST NO

I go with 4, because it’s a perfect number to balance each sex lol.

For my RP, I actually had people limit themselves to one character for the start of the RP just because the mechanics were strange.

I don’t really tend to notice most RPs without limits suffering from everyone having numerous characters, although there are a few
