Discussion: Do you think cyberbullying exist?

Not sure if this topic has been discussed but I want to know what are your thoughts on cyberbullying. Do you think it exists?

A long time ago, I first used to think it exists but then I felt brainwashed by some people saying that it doesn’t exist. I then used to think it doesn’t exist but judging by how horrible people were to me on Facebook, Instagram and so on, it changed my perspective and how it made me realise that it does exist. Especially when I heard that people have taken away their own lives from what people have said to you online. I also get that bullying that happens at school or college can also be transferred onto the internet. Guess I now know that cyberbullying does exist.

I’d also like to add that you can get PTSD from what someone that has said to you online. Especially when it involves doxxing, revenge p0rn and whatever heinous crimes that could happen online. Plus, I wouldn’t blame anyone for avoiding a certain website due to these painful memories.

Edit: I also had to make some changes because since I am back on social media, I no longer think it’s toxic as it depends on how I use it.

I think it’s kinda disgusting that it’s even a debate. Anywhere people congregate, bullying exists. That’s what bullying is. Cyber bullying is literally just bullying but online. Which happens. So yes. It’s real. I don’t get how there can be an argument for it not being real

They think since you’re on the internet, it’s as simple as “just stop going on there.” "Deactivate your account " but do they realize it’s not just that, it’s the impact it can leave onto you. The pain of those words. People are just idiots and think everything has such a simple solution. They’re those mothers that say “you got depression because you always on that damn phone.” It’s not always the case.

“If it’s one person–block them.” You kept adding me into the DM sis. I tried to ignore it but you just kept coming and coming–you harrassed me and didn’t even think twice about it

To be honest, just because cyberbullying isn’t common (fortunately), it doesn’t mean that it doesn’t exist. So, the answer is yes. Bullying exists, no matter what kind of bullying is it.

As @ChaoticDeluge said:

And I can tell is that there will always be the “good souls” who’d like to do bad to others, and look for reasons why to.

It will be a totall lie if people say that bullying does not exist.

Exactly!

Especially when the victim gets blamed for no freaking reason. Even people you know can cyberbully you as bullying can be transferred onto the internet.

Bullying is a serious problem and we should do anything we can to make it stop :slightly_smiling_face:

Cyberbullying is definitely real. It’s just as serious as other types of bullying. It’s difficult to stop, and not as easy as you think…:blue_heart:

it does it’s so bad that my country made this show once. They were tracking the bullies down and confronted them with their actions

Yeah cyberbullying is so subtle it can be really easy to miss it if you don’t end up in the middle of an issue. And people trivialise it so much!

I just hate how people call it a bullying when people just disagree with them, that it’s hard to take cyber-bullying seriously.

Same! The number of times where someone’s specifically asked for my opinion on a story and then said I was bullying with them when I gave it, too!

Cyberbullying absolutely exists, however I think there is a lot of people who claim even a slight disagreement or difference of opinion, as bullying. The melodramatic crowd of people who do this seriously dilute the definition of bullying.

Disagreeing with someone isn’t cyberbullying.

Sending death threats, making memes of someone, randomly attacking someone etc. All count as cyberbullying.

Cyberbullying is definitely real, it is also really serious.

I haven’t experienced it myself but I’ve witnessed the effect it has on people.

I personally hate it when people try to pass cyber bullying off as “trolling”. Trolling can be really funny! But not when you’re actively trying to ruin someone’s state of mind for no reason

This image is pretty accurate even though I am kind of put off by playing hangman in general.
