Not sure about the laws in other countries but in the UK, parents can now get fined for taking their children away during term time meaning each parent would have to pay around £120.
Do you think it’s a good or bad thing?
In my opinion, I support this law to a certain degree because education is very important and parents should book holidays during the holiday time such as half term (if you’re not British, teachers & students get a week off from school during October, February and May/June), Christmas, Easter and summer holiday. On the other hand, I can understand situations such as hospital appointments or going to a funeral so I don’t agree with fining parents for that. But to be honest, I wish this law start a long time ago because I really hated it when parents forced me to go to Bangladesh when I was 8 and 11 years old. Trust me, I hated it there (I have already mentioned why I hate it in other threads so I’m not going to repeat myself again because so much trauma happened there).
So feel free to leave your thoughts in the comment section down below.
Edit: I had to edit some parts here because something didn’t make any sense. What I’m trying to say here is that parents shouldn’t be fined due to certain situations such as visiting a sick relative or a surgery in another country or any valid reason to take your kid out of school.

I find it a bit ridiculous. If a family wants to go to a vacation in other country, then why not? Actually, it is a great opportunity for a family to be together and enjoy with each other.
So, I don’t see at some point why should parents be fined for this.
It’s now a thing in the UK. But then I do kind of see where they’re coming from because there are parents who do trick their children into marriage or sex slavery when they say “holiday”.
I kind of agree.
If there isn’t a valid reason, why would you even take your child on holiday when you as a parent know that they should be in school?
I think there should be 2 written warnings and if they do it again, then they should be fined.
You have the holidays and breaks to take your child on holiday so I don’t understand why you would take them on holiday when they should be in school.

Then maybe they can use polygraph to make sure that the children aren’t taken as s** slaves (even though it cannot be always 100% trusted)

Exactly my point.
I wish this really happened since day 1 because I didn’t like when I was in primary school, mum made me go to Bangladesh twice. I hate it there so f**king much because of the traumatic shit that happened to me and I always avoid the topic Bangladesh when a distant relative ask me even though I know their motives.

Even though it is kinda ridiculous, I can understand at some point why you have this law in your country. It is for the citizens’ safety.
So, you could say that I agree with this law at some point.

I kinda disagree and agree. If they’re visiting a sick relative, that’s unfair.

That’s what I meant.
They could just give a warning but only fine the parents if they make the kids miss out school for more than a week.

But there is a suggestion for anyone if they were being sent to another country for that, they should put a metal spoon in their underwear so when they go past the metal detector at the airport, that is when the security can stop them and ask the person questions.

This is what I also meant when I am slightly against taking your child/ren away from school during term time or against their will

No, I don’t think they should be fined. It’s kind of ridiculous. So what they miss school? That’s their parent’s decision.
