You’d set off my book compulsions :joy:

I’ve cut down in my most recent moves (3 apartments in NYC in the last year, then to in law’s in France, now to an apartment in France) because they’re heavy and bulky, but I will be reunited with the collection that made the cut tomorrow!!! I think I have it down to one box, but that’s sure to change since we will have actual room in the apartment.

I used to have a Kindle but my husband stole it because I mostly read on my phone anyway. I use Kindle but loathe Amazon, so I also buy iBooks from Apple, but they’re not a fundamentally good company either. No ethical consumption under capitalism :woman_shrugging:

Not huge, maybe 30 books that I’ve bought but I kept my NYC public library card and so I have their e-book library app and it’s amazinggg

Ebooks are more convenient, but I do love the feel of a real book. I can’t choose, really.

There are drawbacks to both, honestly, and again, ethical consumption is impossible when you’re talking about a company that is shipping people things in two days via airplanes versus trees being cut down. That’s why I do love a good used bookstore!

I don’t write much, unless it’s a French book and I look up words I didn’t know. I used to for school (had to buy a book literally called How To Annotate Like a Professor), but honestly, not much since I do end up giving away a lot of books that I won’t read a second time.
And I do highlight sometimes, but if I’m on my phone, I sometimes even screenshot relevant passages, or info I wanna remember. This is happening a lot with the book I’m reading now called Sapiens.

Bump…

What are your favourite genres in physical books, and in e-books? Is there a difference?

Yeah, a lot.

I use some app I found in store and I usually download books from numerous illegal websites xD

Not really tbh. I usually only download books I can’t find in library or the ones that aren’t spelled in my country, or books I want in English language because that’s hard to find in my country.

Both are easy to read for me =)

Normal books

I feel like an ignorant but never thought of it. Saving my money does factor tho xD

No :flushed: I used to write in my study books, but fiction books? Never.

Nope xD

In terms of manga and comics

Do you prefer physical or digital?

Physical.

Both. I like the smell of books but my hands start to hurt if I keep a holding a book for a long time. I like eBooks because you can read it on a device and not have to flick through pages. :purple_heart: :butterfly:

Added a books tag

It’s such a hard decision though because ebooks are cheaper :sob:

YES. Books are everywhere.

Kindle.

Yep. Over 100, maybe? :eyes::grimacing:

Neither, although a kindle is lighter and more compact and way better for reading at night.

I don’t know. I love physical books, but kindles are much more practical, plus the price of the books go down by several pounds. If I had to pick, I’d say kindle purely because of the practicality and price. But other than that, physical books are life :heart_eyes:

… nope. I’m sorry, planet :sob::dizzy::blue_heart:

No to both!

Do you have a kindle with a backlight? :eyes:

No, but the kindle has a screen that provides light itself :eyes:
I admit it’s not the best in terms of getting to sleep since screens aren’t that great for you, but :woman_shrugging:t2:
