DISCUSSION: Is asexuality part of the LGBTQ+ community?

Idk. I just heard somebody say the “A” was for Ally.
It’s dumb.

There are always gonna be those occasional straight people who feel like they have to be part of the acronym. I can’t remember where it happened (maybe @ChaoticDeluge can refresh my memory), but we were watching this person who turned LGBT into SLGBT.

Not only is that the most stupid thing ever because we might as well just say “people” at that point, but of course the person who needs to get in on the action puts straight people first :woman_facepalming:t4:

I don’t consider myself part of that community. Never will. I don’t like it because it is supposed to not alienate me for being myself or whatever, but other alphabet people hate me and #LGBTforTrumpers, or any of them that aren’t leftists, tbh.

If it wasn’t dumb enough already for that, there’s a lot of even THEM that also believe asexuality isn’t real X’DDDDDDD So whatever. Either my sexuality isn’t real, or I’m a terrible bigot racist homophobe and I better not show up at any of these parades again.

Just another day in clown world X’DDDD

I don’t know what about cisgenders, but heteros denifintely aren’t considered as a part of LGBTQ+ community. It sounds so stupid to consider a hetero who supports the community as a part of it.:woman_facepalming:t4:

You’re always gonna find idiots. I’ve had L G and T people tell me bisexuality isn’t real and that I should pick a side

I found a comment on YouTube that said “I wish the community could go back to LGB without the T+” and another one that said “questioning. What is that”

Right, I agree. My point is, though, as a whole, what the community is, not necessarily what it represents, which I like what it represents, just not the community… The community doesn’t like people like me or, like eLX touched upon, Blaire White. So, I distance myself from them. Also, the parade is kinda degrading and scary anyway :joy::joy::joy: as an ace, it is all too sexualized in general which is a real shame, but eh. Im glad they enjoy it, I suppose.

Yes, why shouldn’t it be? :eyes::sparkles:

Never heard about heteromantic asexuals or aromantic heterosexuals, but why should they be excluded? :eyes::sparkles:
I think that every not straight cisgender person could be considered as a part of the LGBT+ community :eyes::sparkles:

Who came up with that nonsense? :woman_facepalming: being an ally has nothing to do with being part of a community :woman_facepalming: :eyes::sparkles:
But I guess some people can’t accept that they aren’t included for once, so maybe everyone should just let them think whatever they want as long as they really support the community? :woman_shrugging: :eyes::sparkles:

On a serious note, I believe asexuals are a part of the community regardless of romantic orientation. But there’s a lot of people who disagree with this

For example, an author I used to like said that asexuals aren’t a part of the community because they were (or are? - I cannot remember) an asexual and believes that they don’t “count”.
