Discussion: "Night Light" Mode and Blue Light Glasses

Some computers and mobile devices come with a “Night Light” mode to display warmer tones on the screen to prevent blue light. Blue light is emitted by typical electronic screens and can be damaging to the eyes. Blue light glasses - pretty self-explanatory - are another product that protect your eyes from blue light.

Especially now in quarantine, all my classes are online and I often find myself staring at the screen for several hours. I’ve toggled my settings to make it so my screen always displays night light. I’ve never tried blue light glasses, but they look pretty cool and seem effective.

  • Does your device(s) have a night light option?
  • Do you use night light on your devices? When do you have it turned on?
  • Have you ever tried blue light glasses?

So doesn’t this make your screen more yellow, right? If so, yes. I don’t use it though i just turn my brightness all the way down. But I might start using it in the dark more often :eyes:

No, too lazy to buy :sunglasses::raised_back_of_hand:t3:

I use night light on my laptop and my mom does not like it for some reason. I also use it on my tablet and it makes it easier to use. I have it on 24/7.

Does your device(s) have a night light option?*

yes

Do you use night light on your devices? When do you have it turned on?

no, the orange actually seems to hurt my eyes more

Have you ever tried blue light glasses?

yep, my prescription glasses are blue light filtering!

Yes, all of my devices do.

All of the time. Night Light filter is always on with my phone and it’s really noticeable compared to other phones but you get used to it quickly.

I actually own a pair. I just never use them because I look like such a dork when i do wear them.

Yes. All my devices have this setting but I only started using them recently.

I turn them on around 1-6AM to make me sleepier. I always have trouble sleeping before 1 AM, plus I still have my lights on before those hours so I still don’t need the night shift mode.

My glasses sorta have them, but they’re not that strong enough to protect my eyes. I still had to change my glasses every year.
