Discussion: School Bullies

Nobody really bullied me in school lol although I did have moments with friends. However, there was this one girl - lets call her Karen lol that was picking on @potato and they were working on an art project and Karen was making her do all the work- or so it seemed to me. So I went up to her and told her something, like hey be nice or you should do some of the work too… or something like that. Idk I don’t remember exactly. Well she eventually stormed off to “tell” on me while literally like 5 people went after her in my defense lol while I cowered in the corner, thinking that i was getting in major trouble, only for the art teacher to come in and ask if I was alright then tell everyone to get back to work lol. Pretty sure Karen got in trouble, all cuz she was trying to turn me in lol.

My whole year group at school was bullying me at one point. To the extent sizzors getting thrown at me a few times in one lesson. Thankfully the culprit got punished and I didn’t get hurt. That made it stop for a while. Telling the teacher didn’t really help. Not really sure what to say about bullying. My school was notorious for not dealing with bullying.

Ah, bullies are so weird. I mean you could get bullied for anything, they want to pick on people. There’s not one type of bully and not a certain type of person getting bullied, it can really happen to anyone. Usually the the bully is troubled blah, blah, blah.

I remember that my class had a black sheep. It was kind of like a joke on the verge of bullying because everyone picked on this person even teachers. It was fun at times and this person took it with a smile, but it could get too much. We were a pretty close class. A small class than had known each other from first grade, I liked the dynamic overall.

Then we had this girl who bullied a new person every year haha. One time she brought her older sister and some friends of hers to gang up on one in my class. The person who they ganged up on was quite confident though, same case with another friend too. Oh the fun thing was that the bully also was popular. I don’t know… she wasn’t an evil person. She just had very strong opinions about stuff and had a bunch of minions. I mean she was friends with everyone at some point. It’s hard, cause we were small. If she said what she had said then now it wouldn’t be a big deal, but for small kids it could be hurtful. She was also very independent, went to school all by herself, being home alone etc. so she might have grown up a bit faster and wasn’t as sheltered and didn’t realize that she made other feel bad. I don’t know. I’m analyzing this too much. I was really good friends with everyone in that class. I remember that I told her to stop being mean at one point and she insulted me lol :joy: I started crying! I mean I have lots of good memories too with her. It’s very complex. Well, she bullied her bestie at one point, like during half a year but then they went back to being best friends. I’m not sure what counted as bullying and not hehe.

I’m another school I went to some people were mean to a girl, I had no idea why. Ehm, people usually go to my friend group if they didn’t have any other friends, but she too was quite independent and found friends from the grade below which was kind of cool.

I think I’ve been surrounded with awesome people haha. I can only think of one person I didn’t like from school, he wasn’t even in my class.

I always say that schools don’t do enough to stop bullying, based on my own personal experience and other people who I knew irl. Its insulting that we can get sat down for a corny 30 minute + talk on bullying but some teachers can’t spend 5 seconds to move a bullied student to another seat, or tell the bullies to leave them alone.

And don’t get me started on how long and painful it is to talk about your bullying experience. Most bullies usually threaten you not to speak up but apart from that it’s… scary? Admitting how vulnerable you were/are, the fear of being “weak” and talking to someone who you have to just hope will make a difference is a huge leap. Doing of that and then having your school do nothing is awful.

School bullies don’t bother me as much as they used too ---- in a way. I mean they do bother me if I see them bothering other kids but I don’t necessarily care if I’m the one being bullied. I feel like every time I say this I sound like a broken record but — the people here aren’t the friendliest and I’ve gotten used to that after 5/6 years of living here. So it makes sense why I don’t care about being bullied, especially after what happened last year and the year before ---- that changed me a lot (for better but mostly worse). Yeah — I noticed a huge change in my personality last year it was wild — and with that I don’t really care what others have to say. Even the bullies. I’ll just shrug it off, curse at them or give them my famous cab-driver salute. :joy:

It’s sad to say, but bullies are everywhere. I’m not sure why people bully others, if they have a superior complex or are afraid of something. What I do know is that it’s never okay to bully and anyone can be bullied. Bullies can bully for anything and you’re just unlucky if you get targeted, it’s nothing wrong with you, you haven’t done anything wrong. You can get bullied for being dumb, smart, poor, rich, ugly, attractive, too average, you name it!

What is weird with bullying in school is that it’s usually a small group of bullies and a ton of bystanders. I think that many schools, teachers and parents really don’t know how to handle bullies. I think that all the bystanders could need a small push and support from adults to grow some moral courage.

I was bullied for having scaly knuckles because I hate lotion. I was called Crocman. I clapped back that I was a girl. I’m autistic, so I can’t handle the feeling of some textures.
