So, I’m certain most of the users on the forums know what Pokemon is. Though if you’re in the group who doesn’t know about Pokemon then keep reading this thread. I will be going over what Pokemon is about, the different types of pokemon, and the pokemon in general. Most people use to watch the show when they were children. This show changed the fans of the show and led to their preferences as an adult. Also, this show paved the way for many animes and children to show that everyone watched. Pokemon is still an active running show for those to watch and it has changed in many ways since its debut in 1998.
The video games for Pokemon were iconic games that you could play with a GameboyAdvance or the card games during the start of the series. Now, the first manga of the Pokemon series was released during the first season of Pokemon, Indigo League, in April when the show started. There are many different manga series that was written for the Pokemon series. There are three manga series that are still being published during the present time. I would suggest trying out Pokemon Adventures if you are into the Pokemon games since that is the platform the series is based on.
On to the characters, so the three most iconic characters will always be Ash, Brock, and Misty. For Team Rocket we had Jessie, James, and Meowth who helped with the comedic side since they were always being sent flying up into the air when they failed. I prefer Ash, Brock, and Misty to the new characters since that is who I grew up watching. Yes, I know Ash is still one of the main characters but it still not the same. I will admit there is one thing that I’m not happy with Pokemon. Why is Ash still 10 years old!? It just doesn’t make sense to keep him a child. Even in Yugioh, they aged Yugi during the GX series. Either that is what happened or that was Pharoh instead? Oh well, that’s for another thread later on. I haven’t watched any of the new seasons but I have been meaning to get through them.
Ash and Pikachu made the show wholesome since the beginning of the show. Especially with his relationship and initiative to keep his pokemon safe! Pikachu is his long term best friend since they both literally and figuratively will die for each other if it means one will live on. There are many times where Ash has almost died the same goes for Pikachu. The show even deals with a common problem that animal control officers deal with which is animal abuse. In the first, season they come across Charmander who had been abandon by his own trainer because the trainer thought he was weak. He abused Charmander trying to get him to be a fighter but in the end, it didn’t happen. He became Ash’s pokemon after Ash proved himself as someone who truly cared for Charmander. This show tackled many life lessons while still bringing in a show about pokemon all at the same time. I mean it took Pikachu time to warm up to Ash even. Though he does still shock Ash when he feels like it. Their relationship is cute and relatable for many pet owners and children who do not own pets but are close to friends and family.
Let’s get on to the Pokemon now. Here is a chart of the different types of Pokemon!
I will list some of the Pokemon from the different types. These will be the ones I like and some of the unique pokemon as well. So our first pokemon are:
Growlithe
Growlithe is talked about as much since he isn’t part of Ash’s collection. I love the fact he looks like a dog and tiger combined together. Fire-type pokemon have the coolest abilities in the series other than Ghost-type. Much like any other untrained animal Growlithe will bite at you if it’s not trained to work with humans.
Charmander
Charmander by far is one of my favorite pokemon. It might stem from the fact he looks like a dragon and spits fire like a dragon. I even liked his other evolved form of Charizard. I loved seeing the episodes that he was in before he evolved. He acts like sweet pokemon who deserves to be treated as such.
Pikachu
Pikachu is my favorite pokemon! He is a snarky pokemon who will let you know what he thinks if you do something he doesn’t like. Also, his powers to electrocute his attackers makes him even better. I laugh each time he ends up shocking Ash just out of spite since that was pretty much a known thing he would do. I love that one episode where we get to see all the wild Pikachu and it was sad when it looked like Pikachu was going to with them instead of staying with Ash. We all know what he chose though.
Kadabra
I actually liked Kadabra. The pokemon was very interesting when he was first introduced to Ash under Sabrina’s control at her gym. Grant it, he was used to causing harm to people she didn’t like but his nature and abilities perked my interest in the pokemon. I don’t remember if they ever showed more of this pokemon later in the newer seasons.
So these three are my favorite Pokemon. I used to collect the cards and had a very big deck but I’m not really sure where that deck went. It was fun at the time to collect them. I didn’t actually collect the cards for the card game. I collected them for the pokemon on them and the information is written on the bottom. I did own a few of the pokemon games back when I played on a GameBoy advance then Nintendo ds platforms later on. I have the Black and White game for 3ds right now. It’s a fun game to play. I have found some Pokemon game apps I like. No, I do not play Pokemon Go. I rather play the DS games then that game. I had one installed that was called Mon Research it was a fun game you got to collect pokemon and evolve them to use in battle.
How about you list the pokemon you like down below? Tell us what you like about them? Do you have any thoughts to add on about Pokemon? What do you think of the direction of the new seasons?
