I personally don’t like writing essays but if I have to do it, I definitely will. :relieved::brown_heart::dizzy:

I can think of far better things to do with my time but if the subject of the essay is actually something I’m interested in and can easily research then I don’t usually mind them. Last time I did an essay it was about a subject I had little to no interest in and research was really difficult, I dropped out of that course a few days ago so I never found out how I did :thinking:

Agreed. Usually when I’m given something to write about it’s never something that interests me, though. And whenever I try and have fun writing in my English class it stabs me in the foot and somehow I get a better score when I don’t try so I just feel eternal pain from English XD

i’m gonna sound so nerdy but i?
honestly love writing essays?
minus the academic language, i despise academic language like “oh look at me i’m so high and mighty and use over-comeplicated words so my work won’t be accessible to everyone hehe am i not amazing?”
but yeah i’m that nerd who’s written literal essays about their interests just bc i wanted to
and when it comes to academics and grades? i’d 1000% take an essay over an exam, exams are sO BORING to me? at least with the essays i get in my classes i can write whatever the heck i want, be it a comparison of destiny in classical tragedies vs destiny in PJO, calling out scriptwriters in their bs they wrote to appear fancy or smart, or saying a Spanish literature genre, such as picaresque, can be interpreted as queer (yes those are all real essays i’ve written for my classes)

I really hated using academic language :joy: I don’t even understand why you have to like, I understand being formal but as long as you make a good point and have your evidence to back it up, I don’t get why you have to lather on all the academic language.

I don’t like writing essays especially if it’s something I’m not interested in.
However if I love the topic and do have an idea on what it entails, I’d definitely go for it.

I don’t mind writing an essay. I used to fear writing one because my literary skills were bad, but after I learned how to strengthen them, I no longer mind them. I’m never scared or nervous when I’m about to write an essay, and I never feel dreadful about it.

Essays are just essays. It’s neutral for me, like anything, really.

Yes, I love writing essays, especially if its about a subject I don’t know well or actually don’t know because then I can learn something new even though it may be something that didn’t interest me at first. Writing essays is like a gateway for me to be interested in something because I love writing and I love researching different kinds of stuff.

And it makes me dive deeper into my thoughys which I will always be down to do.

some people don’t understand some words and yes-

That’s why I always convince myself that simpler words are better so I can reach and influence more audience xD though I guess infrequent use of them might be okay-

I argued with my sister who used deep words when writing once and she made a point when she said it helps people increase vocabulary so I was like-

i do see where your sister is coming from
and well, it is okay to use technical language in certain circles and all
but one should always have their audience in mind
if i want people to expand their vocabulary i have to explain what the complicated words i’m using mean y’know?
and sadly, in a lot of academic circles that’s considered a waste of time

ngl it really p*sses me how gatekeeper-y some academics are
but hey i love writing essays and sharing information so i’m gonna keep doing it and try to keep everyone in mind as i do

Please add “**” to replace some letters in cuss words when you use them. It’s our goal to keep the public forums PG-13.
