Do you think juveniles should be tried and treated as adults?

For me, I think only the juveniles who have committed crimes such as murder should be tried as adults depending on how old they are. If it’s a child under, say, 15, then I think they should go through the normal system. If the juvenile is over 15-16, then they should be tried as adults. The moment you enter high school, you are in a state of mind where you can’t blame your actions on anyone else. If it’s a special case where the juvenile has been abused mentally, that is totally different. The crime would have to be extreme, like I said, for a juvenile to be charged and treated as an adult convict. Sometimes, it takes getting the child away from the environment they are in to help them rehabilitate for the crime they have committed. Other times, it’s the juvenile themselves who are the actual problem then the environment around them. They are the ones who usually don’t care about what they do. This is just how I feel about the situation. I wish kids didn’t have to go to juvenile prisons, but sadly that is a problem. You have to pay for your actions no matter how severe they are.

^^^ @Debaters, what do you think?

It depends on the law of the country though and at what age they’re seen as an adult.

No, I think they shouldn’t. They often still have their whole lives in front of them and are going through an important phase where so much can go wrong. Yes, they should face consequences for their actions, but age-appropriate and in a way that doesn’t make them feel like they’ll be seen as a criminal forever
