Does reading books make you intelligent?

No, I don’t think so. I believe intelligence and knowledge are two different things. If I were to say, I’d say reading and learning make you knowledgeable instead :eyes:

I don’t think it really makes you intelligent in general. It might help with writing stuff and language classes, but that also really depends on what kind of books you read  Maybe if you read a lot in primary school, that helps you to improve your memory and that might make you more intelligent in the future.
If you read the right books, it makes you seem more intelligent, but that doesn’t mean you really are

I do think that the more you read, particularly when you’re younger, can help increase intelligence. You improve your vocabulary, grammar, reading comprehension, and depending on the topic you can learn about various subjects. Reading helps with creativity and and provide a different perspective that someone may not find otherwise.

but yes, reading books makes you more knowledgable, but not necessarily more intelligent as intelligence is defined as the ability to acquire and apply knowledge and skills

but books do help you gain knowledge that does then make you intelligent :eyes:
